Iandra Castle


Iandra Castle is a large homestead near the village of Greenethorpe, about a 30 minute drive from Grenfell.

Iandra Castle is not open to the public normally. The castle generally holds a few open days throughout the year, normally occuring on the Sunday of a long weekend. Iandra Castle will also open for groups and coach tours on request.
Iandra Castle was built between 1908 and 1910 in the Federation Romanesque style by the pioneering engineer Edward Giles Stone. The homestead, with the surrounding agricultural property is a rare example in Australia of the manorial system.

The dwelling along with the surrounding stables, church and residences were listed on the New South Wales State Heritage Register in 2005.

Chalkers Crossing Winery


All Chalkers Crossing wines are processed at their winery just north of Young.

Chalkers Crossing winemaker, Celine Rousseau, was born in France, studied in Paris, and trained in Bordeaux. She gained experience in Bordeaux, Champange, St Emilion and Languedoc in France, and in the Margaret River and Perth Hills in Western Australia before coming to the Hilltops Region in 2000 for the first Chalkers Crossing vintage.

Take a tour of this award winning modern winery, and enjoy tasting the premium cool climate wines produced with grapes sourced from the Hilltops region.

Chalker's Crossing are open from Monday to Thursday and on Friday by appointment. Groups welcome.

Located at the Young Visitor Information Centre within the historic Young Railway Station building is the Hilltops Regional Wine Cellar.

Young Harness Racing - Carnival of Cups


The Carnival of Cups is a night meeting and is one of the Young Harness Racing Clubs biggest events. Young's meeting will be the richest in the region with a AUD45,000 Cup and AUD16,000 Oaks for three year old fillies. Facilities include dining room/canteen, bar, tote, covered stand, limited track side parking (only along back straight and home turn), ample float, truck, and car parking.

Cherry Blossom Long Lunch


It sounds simply divine. An invitation to savour a long lunch in the breathtaking orchard landscape, covered in pink and white blossoms, and home to Australia's best cherries in Cherry Capital country.

Long trestle tables, exceptional Hilltops food and wines, and the rustic charm of one of Young's most picturesque orchards combine for a promising experience during the spring time blossoms.

Part of the 67th Annual Cherry Festival, its a joint fundraiser for the Cherry Queen Entrants to raise funds for their chosen local charities.

Wine tasting will be held at the Hilltops Regional Wine Cellar (at the Visitor Information Centre) prior to the event, giving attendees the opportunity to purchase Hilltops Wine for their own consumption at the lunch. A coach service will transport guests to the venue on the day, leaving the Visitor Centre from 12 noon.

Buy it fresh from the producer from 9am to 12 noon on the first and third Saturdays of the month. At the Young and Region Farmers Market in Anderson Park, you'll find local produce including farm fresh fruit and vegetables, honey, goats milk soap and other products, olive oil, wines, and much more.

National Cherry Festival
