Located in the historic town of Marulan is the Postmasters Cottage. It stocks a unique range of gifts, homeware and furniture. For the Christmas enthusiasts, there's a room dedicated to Christmas all year round. There's also a gallery room with works from local artist HoonArt to view and purchase.

Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy at Penrose Park

The Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy at Penrose Park was established in 1984 on 75 acres of land near Berrima. Penrose Park with its various devotional areas in a setting of natural beauty, serves as a spiritual oasis open to everyone.

Penrose Park is a religious site surrounded by typical Australian bush with 43 chapels built by ethnic communities. It is very unique place in the Australian landscape. Tourists and pilgrims can explore and see different styles and architecture from more than 30 countries including: Vietnam, China, Mauritius, Italy, Portugal, Hungary and many more.

Wonderful location for weddings or family functions.

Tin Shed Gallery

Enjoy a freshly brewed espresso coffee while soaking in the wonderful views of the Great Dividing Range or view the art works in the Tin Shed Gallery.

Most works are from local artists working in sculpture, painting, pottery or photography although the gallery does have some works from Sydney and Melbourne artists.

The gallery is open most weekends only, or by appointment. It is a short drive from Taralga on the Taralga Road heading toward Oberon.

Long Point Lookout

Long Point Lookout bestows an inspiring view of the spectacular Shoalhaven gorge which is bisected by the Shoalhaven River. The lookout is located just outside the small village of Tallong, which is seven kilometres east of Marulan and is home to two magnificent lookouts, Badgery's and Long Point.

To access Long Point Lookout, head west of Tallong for just over two kilometres back towards Marulan, then turn left onto Long Point Road and follow to the end (approximately five kilometres).

A walking trail will take you from the lookout to the Shoalhaven River 500 metres below (90 minute return trip).

A variety of bird species and other wildlife can be sighted around Long Point Lookout including Rockwarbler, Bell Miner, White-winged Chough, Peregrine Falcon, and Brown, Yellow-rumped, Buff-rumped and Striated Thornbill.

Marulan Annual Kite Festival

The 10th Annual Marulan Kite Festival is on again, proudly sponsored by the local Boral, Holcim and Gunlake quarries, Goulburn Mulwaree Council, along with many other smaller local businesses. Bring the family and join in the fun.

The entertainment includes kite flying, children's kite parade, market stalls, horse and cart rides, games, music, dancing, a talent competition and much more.

The festival is now on a Saturday commencing at 10am with market stalls and kite flying, the children's kite parade at 3pm. It's also Halloween on this date, so there will be some lively costumes getting around!

The years festival is again raising money for the major local community project, the funding of upgrades to the Marulan Memorial Hall.

This will be the first of two consecutive events - Pictures and Popcorn in the Park, will feature a movie for kids in the grounds of beautiful Belmore Park. After the movie, stick around to enjoy the Spring ambience and an exhilarating Fire Show, presented by the Lieder Theatre Company.

Taralga Australia Day Rodeo

The Taralga Australia Day Rodeo incorporates many highlights, including the rodeo, country music night and the campdraft.

See the Australian sport of campdrafting and the young riders of tomorrow compete in the Junior Rodeo. Sit on the hillside and enjoy country music with a top band.

There are all kinds of rides, novelties, stalls, and food and drinks are always available. Don't miss the man versus horse versus bike, and the girls, girls, girls, trick riding. Relax with your family on the tree-shaded hill or on one of the grandstands around the rodeo arena.

The campdraft will be on Saturday 23rd/Sunday 24th January. Cattle Dog Trials on Saturday 23rd January. Yard dog Trials on Saturday 23rd/Sunday 24th Jan. A afternoon/twilight sporting gymkhana will be held on Monday 25th January, followed by evening of live entertainment (8pm to midnight) by The Lumpy Underdaks. Rodeo is on Tuesday 26th January (Australia Day).
