Crookwell

This picturesque historic country town is situated among farmland on the Southern Tablelands, 240 kilometres south west of Sydney and just over an hour north of Canberra. Explore the town on a self-guided historic walk. Other things to do around Crookwell include enjoying local events, visiting an alpaca farm or exploring Grabine Lakeside State Park.

Enjoy the picturesque rolling countryside (approximately 950 metres above sea level) and maybe a day or two of snowfall. A wonderful place to visit, a wonderful place to live - you may wish to never leave. The townsfolk are friendly and always happy to chat.

You can even stock up on great socks from Lindner Socks, one of the last sock factories in Australia.

Lindner Sock Factory


Lindner Sock Factory and Shop is situated in the main street of Crookwell. A family owned and operated business, their fourth generation sock-maker produces a variety of sock styles on site, in both wool and cotton. Come and see their machines in action, and browse through their huge range of colours and styles in the Sock Shop.

They also make a full range of loose top socks, which are great for diabetics or anyone who experiences circulation problems. Alpaca socks are also available.

Crookwell Potato Festival is educational and entertaining for all ages! Visit Crookwell and soak up the friendly country welcome. Come for a day or stay overnight. Bag-a-Bargain


Each May, the residents of the Upper Lachlan Shire come together to form the Bag-a-Bargain Garage Sale Trail, which can stretch from Collector to Gunning, out to Dalton and Jerrawa, up to Grabben Gullen, and onto Crookwell, Binda, Bigga, Tuena, Laggan and Taralga.

Sales are held by a wide variety of people both in and out of town, ensuring a great range of products for sale, from antiques and collectables to furniture and whitegoods.

Crookwell Lions Club Christmas Markets


Crookwell Lions Club Christmas Markets, formerly known as Santa's Hideaway Markets, are an annual event. The markets are held at the Crookwell Pool Park, outside the Crookwell Swimming Pool.

There will be cakes, toys, gifts and craft stalls. The Lions famous Chocolate Wheel with prizes galore. Santa will be there from 1pm till 2pm so come along and have some fun.

Bake and Brew


Come to Crookwell Showgrounds for the fifth annual Bake and Brew, where local and visiting campfire cooks and home brewers will be showing off their skills. There will also be bonfires, storytelling, bush poetry, and music.

A Bush Poets Breakfast is held on Sunday morning. Potential cooks are asked to contact the organisers on the details supplied.

Overnight camping is available at the showgrounds, but bookings are required.
