Crookwell Wind Farm

The Crookwell Wind Farm is located five minutes drive from the heart of Crookwell. The wind farm consists of eight wind turbines and was the first grid connected wind farm in Australia when built by Pacific Power in 1998. The turbines are only 45 metres high. Improvements in technology mean the newer turbines are 145 metres high, making these look very small.

Crookwell Wind Farm currently supplies electricity to Country Energy's Green Power customers. If you look 10 kilometres further ahead into the valley, you will see more turbines which are over 175 metres high, in comparison to the Crookwell Wind Farm turbine's height of 45 metres.

Crookwell Railway Station

The Crookwell railway station is a historic gem. The railway yards were first opened in 1902 and is a significant pioneer terminus station. The line was used to transport stock, goods which included potatoes, iron ore and superphosphates as well as people.The facilities are still present today including a 100 foot platform, wooden station building, stock siding with yards, goods shed, 60 foot turntable and ash pit. Barrels for Bianca

Barrels for Bianca is an annual barrel racing competition held in memory of Bianca Picardi, who was a talented and a highly accomplished horsewoman competing at the elite level.

Bianca died from suicide in 2015 and the "Bub for Life" Trust with the Upper Lachlan Foundation was set up by her mother, Sue Kohleis, to honour her daughter and to support others suffering with depression.

This event is organised by the Australian Barrel Horse Association and points earned from participation go toward the National Title and the opportunity to compete overseas. Competitors travel from around the country to participate.

In 2018 this event is being hosted by Bianca's home town of Crookwell.

Barrel racing is an exciting, full throttle event requiring the highest levels of equestrian skills to negotiate the course over a timed period. The trust between horse and rider is as close as it can gets and both require athlete level fitness to participate.

The event includes a dinner and auction to raise funds for the "Bub for Life" Trust.

Crookwell Bake and Brew

Come to Crookwell Showgrounds for the annual Crookwell campfire cook - out, where local and visiting campfire cooks and home brewers will be showing off their skills. There will also be bonfires, storytelling, bush poetry, and music.

A Bush Poets Breakfast is held on Sunday morning. Potential cooks are asked to contact the organisers on the details supplied.

Overnight camping is available at the showgrounds, but bookings are required.

Crookwell AP and H Show

In the early days of the district, the agriculturalists and pastoralists felt a need to be able to exhibit their produce to the community and beyond. In 1878 they met and formed the A and P Society and proceeded to hold their first Show Day. It was a resounding success and became an annual event. A Horticultural Society has also been formed by another group and became incorporated. The name changed to the AP and H Society in 1902.

Crookwell Lions Club Christmas Markets

Crookwell Lions Club Christmas Markets, formerly known as Santa's Hideaway Markets, are an annual event. The markets are held at the Crookwell Pool Park, outside the Crookwell Swimming Pool.

There will be cakes, toys, gifts and craft stalls. The Lions famous Chocolate Wheel with prizes galore. Santa will be there from 1pm till 2pm so come along and have some fun.

Lions - working together for the community by the community.
