Since 1837 ... Laggan is full of pleasant surprises. It was once home to bushrangers, troopers, pubs, a multitude of shops and a bustling grain ill, Laggan Village is one of New South Wales best kept deserts. Visitors to Laggan Village, including those that arrive by bike, will find leafy country lanes, beautiful historic buildings, a warm and welcoming community and unspoilt mountain scenery.

Ever wondered about these inquisitive animals? Now's your chance to get up close and personal with one. Alpaca Products Australia is a working Alpaca farm, where you can get close, observe and learn about these extraordinary animals. They subscribe to low stress herd management resulting in healthy, calm and trusting animals.

Where are they from? Why are they good for Australia? What products are produced? Visit them and find out.

The alpaca farm is perfect for coach and touring groups. It is located only five minutes from Crookwell's town centre in New South Wales.

Feeding times are 10am and 2pm in winter, or 3pm in warmer months. Please ring to arrange your visit.

Lindner Sock Factory


Lindner Sock Factory and Shop is situated in the main street of Crookwell. A family owned and operated business, their fourth generation sock-maker produces a variety of sock styles on site, in both wool and cotton. Come and see their machines in action, and browse through their huge range of colours and styles in the Sock Shop.

They also make a full range of loose top socks, which are great for diabetics or anyone who experiences circulation problems. Alpaca socks are also available.

Laggan Village Markets


Every third Saturday of the month, the Laggan Memorial Hall hosts the Laggan Village Markets, boasting a wide array of goods from home baked cakes to plants and an impressive range of gift items.

There are over 30 stalls at most markets, and the kitchenette area sells beautiful devonshire teas and offers a place to sit.

Bush Poetry at Laggan Pub


Bush Poets are alive and well at the Laggan Pub. Calling all bush poets and musicians!

Join Mike and Elaine as they coordinate an evening of bush poetry and song at the Laggan Pub, the first Wednesday of each month. Arrive at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

Of course all bush poets love an appreciative audience and the night is open to everyone to come and enjoy the evening in a warm convivial atmosphere at the Laggan Pub.

Laggan was named by Governor Macquarie after his childhood home in Scotland. The pretty, charming village of Laggan was established in the 1850s.

Bag-a-Bargain


Each May, the residents of the Upper Lachlan Shire come together to form the Bag-a-Bargain Garage Sale Trail, which can stretch from Collector to Gunning, out to Dalton and Jerrawa, up to Grabben Gullen, and onto Crookwell, Binda, Bigga, Tuena, Laggan and Taralga.

Sales are held by a wide variety of people both in and out of town, ensuring a great range of products for sale, from antiques and collectables to furniture and whitegoods.

All garage sale sites are listed in the Bag-A-Bargain Maps publication which is released online the night before, and in print at various locations around the shire.

Crookwell Lions Club Christmas Markets


Crookwell Lions Club Christmas Markets, formerly known as Santa's Hideaway Markets, are an annual event. The markets are held at the Crookwell Pool Park, outside the Crookwell Swimming Pool.
