The historic village of Murringo is 24 kilometres east of Young in a pretty valley.

First settled in 1827, it was one of the earliest settlements west of the Great Dividing Range and there are some fine historic buildings to see today. Visit the Christ Church Anglican Church built in the 1860s, the Marengo Hotel licensed in 1856, the police station built in 1880, the public school built in 1870 and the Plough Inn built before 1860.

A museum and tribute centre to the late bushman and whip maker, Syd Bayliss, and to Richard Taubman who has kept his trades and stories alive for over 30 years is located in Murringo. On display are many leather products, artifacts, tools and items used by Syd and Richard. On sale are numerous plaited leather products, hats, boots and much more.

Open on weekends, public holidays and by appointment.

Taubman and Webb Trading Post

The Taubman and Webb Trading Post is a tribute centre to the late Syd Bayliss, renowned bushman, plaiter and whip maker.

The Centre displays many leather items which were made and used by Syd. There are also leather items made by local whip maker and attraction name-sake Richard Taubman and other leather works for sale. Richard and Leah Taubman are dedicated to keeping Syd's stories alive for future generations.

Richard hosts whip making classes and demonstrates his whip cracking skills with his infamous whip, "Big Bertha" a 20-metre whip made by Richard - which he often cracks down the main drag in Murringo.

The Tribute Centre also acts as a Cellar Door for the nearby Trandari Wines and sells local honey and sometimes freshly laid eggs.

Coronation Collectables

Coronation Collectables are retailers of general antiques and collectables, specialising in affordable Art Deco, Art Nouveau and Mid-Century original lighting and accessories. Situated in the historic Murringo Police Station the antique shop is open between Friday and Monday.

Valley Fresh Cherries and Stonefruit

Valley Fresh Cherries and Stonefruits is a young family owned and operated farm, situated in the Hilltops Region on the Olympic Highway (Wombat Road) seven kilometres South of Young.

Cherry Season begins mid November, through until late December. All fruit is hand picked and processed on site through our very own packing shed. Fruit is picked, hydro cooled and placed in cold storage within the hour. Quality control procedures are in place throughout the picking and packing process to ensure the fruit is at a quality standard when received by the consumer.

Valley Fresh Cherries and Stonefruits was established in 2005 by Barisha and Kathy Batinich when the opportunity arise to purchase a cherry and stonefruit orchard on the outskirts of Young NSW.

Lambing Flat Chinese Tribute Garden

The Lambing Flat Chinese Tribute Gardens are located at the Chinaman's Dam reserve just four kilometres from the town centre. Now a well established garden set in a quiet, relaxing and picturesque site, the gardens are the perfect spot for a relaxing morning or afternoon with picnic facilities and barbecues.

After crossing the bridge to the garden and passing the marble lion sculptures guarding the garden entrance, make your way to the garden viewing platform and sit and relax overlooking the garden and the Pool of Tranquillity.

The development of the gardens began in 1992 and was established to recognise the contribution of the Chinese community to the settlement of Young in the 1860s, and to the ongoing contributions of the Chinese community to Australia as a Nation. Informative heritage signs provide information on the establishment of the gardens and the dam.

Young Bowling Club

Young Bowling Club is located a short stroll from the CBD and local motels. An intimate Club where you will immediately feel the warm welcoming atmosphere in a picturesque location. The club has three high class bowling greens where competition and casual bowls are enjoyed. Women's bowls are played Tuesday and Thursday mornings; Men's bowls are held on Thursday and Saturday afternoons; mixed bowls are held on Sunday morning.

Apart from the bowls, the club has a Malaysian Chinese Restaurant; 'Bowling King', bar and a function room available for any event!

Raffles and badge draws are held Wednesday and Friday nights at 7pm.

Barefoot Bowling games are also a feature of the Young Bowling Club on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Cherry Chase: Young Youth Council Fun Run

A challenging and fun community event organised by the Young Youth Council, and the third annual Cherry Chase will be held in March 2017. A fun run where five and ten kilometre events will take place, with sections for varying age levels. Beginning and ending at the Chinese Tribute Gardens, the fun run is a great day out for the whole family.

NHMA National Tractor Trek

Over three days in September 2018 during spring The Seventh National Tractor Trek will be held in the Hilltops Region!

There will be buses running for non tractor drivers visiting Young top locations. Such as: Iandra Castle, Model train museum, Chinamans Dam, Chinese Gardens, and more.

Young Masters Rugby League Carnival

The Young Cherryatrics introduced in 2014 a NRL Masters City Vs Country representative game. The side was chosen from nominations from the respective Carnival Teams. Sides were split into either City or Country and the sides were announced at the function at the Young S and C Club on the Saturday Night. Special jumpers were made up for the occasion, with great assistance from CSM International and proud jumper sponsors, the Young S and C Club.
