The Lion of Waterloo


The Lion of Waterloo is believed to be the oldest licensed hotel west of the Blue Mountains that is still standing.
Dating back to 1841, The Lion of Waterloo was a popular destination for coaches, station hands, settlers and later miners.
Cobb and Co coaches would regularly stop here to change horses and refresh passengers before continuing on their journey.
Today the Lion is a charming tavern and restaurant.

Cameron Park


The award winning Cameron Park is in the perfect location right in the middle of Wellington's Central Business District. Tharpa Choeling, Wellington Buddhist centre was founded by Gelupa lineage western sangha, following the teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. They take seriously the 43 ordination vows as given by their ordination master, Geshe Thubten Dawa plus the main Boshisattva vow which incorporates 18 root vows and 46 subsidiary vows. They are not a cultural centre and as such their main focus is study of the Buddha's teachings; the three turnings of the dharma wheel, which they are always happy to share with others.

Wellington Annual Show


The 142nd Wellington Show is a country show that showcases all the local and regional talent. Come along and experience a day of entertainment. Wood chopping, Tent pegging display, Correctional Services K9 Unit Dog Displays, Animal Nursery, Camp Cooking demonstrations, musical performances by Wellington Band and Nigel Stanley, Wellington Showgirl, Teenage Showgirl, Junior Show person and Tiny Tots presentations, Family Farming Fun Challenge, sports shear and speed shear, craft demonstrations, market stalls, trade exhibits, food, rides, sideshows and show bags.

There are competitions for horses, cattle, sheep, fleece, poultry, dairy goats, championship dog show, yard dog trails, home garden produce, craft needlework, patchwork, jams and preserves, bread, cakes, children's cooking, photography, fine arts, junior art, flowers, pot plants, tractors, beaut utes, pet parade and more.

The show concludes with fireworks at 7pm over the racecourse.

The Wellington Visitor Information Centre is located in the beautiful, award winning Cameron Park in the centre of Wellington. The Centre is an accredited Information Centre and was first opened in 1971. The centre has recently moved into the more spacious and adjoining 'old Library'.

The Wellington Visitor Information Centre offers a wide variety of local and regional tourist information along with a range of local produce and souvenirs.
