Golden Memories Millthorpe Museum

Golden Memories Museum is where heritage comes alive!

There are historic buildings, fascinating history with memories of pioneering days, gold discovery and mining displays, and a huge collection of farm machinery. The Good Templars Hall houses many treasures - Victorian and Edwardian pieces as well as a pistol and fossicking pick which belonged to John Lister. Plus there's a unique display of Wiradjuri weapons and objects from the district. In the Cadia Theatrette a collection of gold mining and geology supports video of the current gold mining operation at Cadia Valley to the West of Millthorpe.

Colour City Creatives Art Gallery and Studios

Colour City Creatives Art Gallery and Studios is a collective of artists and creative individuals. The Barracks once accommodated rail workers and stands at East Fork, a convergence of three rail lines. The two storey building is filled with art, in galleries, studios and corridors as well as the shop. The shop has original items like scarves, pillowcases, greeting cards, aprons, small artworks, baskets, bookmarks and trays.

They have 12 working art studios as well as two galleries and the shop filled with creative items, all for sale. If a studio door is open you can go inside and have a look how an artist works.

Open to the public for exhibition viewing during three Orange festivals and additionally open on the second Saturday of every month, which is also the Orange Farmers Market day.

Millthorpe Garden Ramble

The historic Village of Millthorpe hosts its 12th Annual Garden Ramble.

Each year the crowd has become progressively larger with the Ramble Committee expecting up to 3,000 visitors over the weekend.

On offer to Ramblers are established gardens and recently created ones at a variety of locations. Some in the village, some small acreage or working properties.

Millthorpe Village offers a variety of eateries and cellar doors with great food and wine available for the ravenous ramblers. Accommodation options can be found on the village web site.

Millthorpe Markets

The Millthorpe Markets are held twice a year, generally on the first Sunday in April and the first Sunday in December. The markets, which have been running since 2005, are hosted by the Millthorpe Public School P and C Committee, with all funds raised assisting to purchase ongoing educational tools for the School.

The markets are well established and have been called 'the best in the region' by both the stall holders and the thousands of market goers who attend each year. Stall holders come from far and wide to sell their produce in the beautiful surrounds of Redmond Oval. Everything from clothing, jewellery, toys, arts and crafts, woodwork, second hand goods, gourmet and fresh produce, cake stalls, plants, and Christmas decorations are available.

The Mixed Dozen - Orange Wine Makers Portrait Exhibition

This Orange Wine Festival, Colour City Creatives Art Collective is having no ordinary exhibition but a real art and wine celebration, an exhibition that will pop the cork! To help celebrate the Orange Wine Festival, select artists from Colour City Creatives Barracks precinct are being paired with some of the best local wine makers.

During the Wine Festival, Colour City Creatives Barracks Precinct will host the Mixed Dozen Portrait Exhibition in the Peter Gore Gallery, and the rest of the two storey building and the Aida Pottinger Gallery will exhibit even more modern art from the collective.

The Mixed Dozen Portrait Exhibition will be judged by two excellent curators, Maddie from The Corner Store Gallery and Sonny from Ludlow Creative Space.

The artists from the Barracks Precinct have a varied background, history, skill set and individual technique. The concepts are up to the artists but expect paintings, photography, manipulated photography, lino-block, collagraph technique to bring out the terroir in the winemakers. Colour City Creatives are a group of contemporary artists who love a challenge and, more importantly, love being part of the local community.
