The Water Garden at Mayfield Garden


The Water Garden at Mayfield Garden is a spectacular water and stone feature garden purpose built to provide visitors with a breath-taking garden experience, year round. The Water Garden boasts hewn blue-stone walls guiding visitors along winding paths past cascades, across bridges to a wide circular pond with 16 metre high obelisk at it's heart.

Features within the Water Garden include a water dripping copper tree fountain, stone and steel wisteria arbor, an all?e of London Plane trees, and a stunning blue-stone bridge with cascade folly.

The Nursery with its great range of cool climate plants, and the Kitchen Caf? with delicious food, coffee, cold drinks and gifts are all part of the nearby garden centre, welcoming visitors year-round.

Mayfield Garden's expansive private family garden (beyond the Water Garden) is open to visitors during the Mayfield Garden Spring or Autumn Open Days events. See website for details.

Oberon Railway Station Group


Oberon Railway Station is now the focus of an outdoor museum. Inside the station are displays about the beginnings of the town, while outside one of the most popular attractions are the two railway carriages. There are also settlers huts, a working blacksmiths shop and many piece of fascinating machinery rarely seen today.

Located one block off Oberon's main street in Scotia Avenue the Museum is situated adjacent to the Oberon railway station and shunting grounds.

Apart from over 150 pieces of early farm machinery dotted around the nearly two acres of level display area the Museum also boasts a wide and varied collection of artefacts and memorabilia housed inside the original 1920s railway station with its two (circa 1925) passenger rail carriages.

Mayfield Garden Private Garden Spring Open Days


Mayfield Garden is one of the world's largest privately owned cool climate gardens and is home to a private garden, and the Water Garden which is a year-round visitor experience.

The Private Garden Spring Open Days at Mayfield Garden offer visitors a rare chance to experience the expansive private family garden beyond the Water Garden. See the vibrant spring colours across over 160 acres (64 hectares) of manicured garden.

Private Garden Open Days occur for set days each autumn and spring and there's something for everyone with the Kitchen Caf? serving delicious food and the Nursery selling a range of cool climate plants and some kids activities too.

Just 2.5 hours from Sydney and 15 kilometres from Oberon, Mayfield Garden Private Garden Open Days are not to be missed.

Highlands Steam and Vintage Fair


If it's heritage, then the Oberon Highlands Steam and Vintage Fair has it.

The fair is held annually in Oberon, with event set up, and the tractor trek, and car and truck road runs (entrants only), on Friday.

Saturday has a street parade at 10am, followed by all the action at the Fair Ground. Sunday starts with the early bird tractor trek and displays until noon. No entry fees on Sunday due to reduced activities and displays.

Free entry for exhibitors, on site camping available (limited space available).

Featuring historic machinery, vintage and classic car displays, steam traction engines, steam portables and stationary engines, vintage trucks and lots of tractors. Tractor treks, fun tractor pull, car and truck rally, the flying pieman organ, market stalls, drum maker, timber working, military displays including Lithgow Living History Group.

Oberon and Villages Spring Festival of Open Gardens


Come and visit an abundance of beautiful open gardens this Spring in the Oberon region.

Mayfield Garden will be opening its gates once again to show off Spring in all its splendour. Mayfield Garden Water Garden will open daily. Gairloch Garden is open for you to enjoy this beautiful haven.

The Rotary Club of Oberon presents Daffodil Dawdle where you can view seven large country gardens in Oberon and surrounds.

Oberon Garden Club hosts Open Gardens in the region, some of which have never been open to the public before.

Oberon Show


Oberon's annual Agricultural Show returns.

Enjoy plenty of action and activity at the Oberon Show. A colourful showcase of country life with plenty of action and activity including dog championships, equestrian events, ute competition, stationary engines, fireworks, and a wonderful display of produce, flowers, and craft in the pavilion.

Rydal Show


The Rydal Show is known as 'the biggest little show in the west', and this year will the 94th show for Rydal.

There is something for everyone with yard dog trials, wood chopping, prize winning arts and horticulture. See the best wool, the best cattle, and the best vegetables the district can produce. Rock and Road Cycling Race


The Rock and Road Cycling Race is a first for the area, and a first for Australia in cycling sport. A race where riders get to prove themselves across both road and mountain bike disciplines.

Rydal and surrounding areas will host the inaugural Rock and Road race event. Riders can choose a solo race where they can prove their skills on two bikes. Starting on the road bike riders will take in an 80 kilometre route out of Rydal and through the surrounding scenic countryside, before returning to the event hub and transitioning onto their mountain bike for the 40 kilometres rock route through Lidsdale State Forest.

There's also a Mini option which allows solo riders to complete a half distance course. Riders can choose to compete as a Duo, with one rider undertaking the road section and one rider taking on the rock route, with a tag-transition.
