Dubbo Observatory


At the Dubbo Observatory you can view the planets , stars, and galaxies through telescopes at night. Be informed and entertained with the 90 minute program that commences with a presentation by local astronomer, Peter Starr, then venture out into the night sky and view the stars through the telescopes. Astrophotography is also available with select camera brands. A gift shop is available where you can purchase astronomy books and gifts.

During the day there is the solar viewing and astro mini-golf package.
You can view sunspots and solar prominences safely, and the planet Venus and Moon if visible. They have an 18 hole astronomy themed mini golf. Astronomy documentaries are available to be viewed in the theatrette. There is also a gift shop.

Dundullimal Homestead (National Trust)


Discover Dubbo's pioneer history at the 1840s Dundullimal Homestead, a National Trust building. Enjoy picturesque gardens, a their caf? and gallery. Experience a guided tour and find out the history of the Homestead. Bookings for tours are essential.

Dundullimal Homestead specialises in weddings, functions, group tours and education programs. Light refreshments and group packages available.

The Homestead is located 1.5 kilometres past Taronga Western Plains Zoo.

Savannah Visitor Plaza, Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo


Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo has a free access area called the Savannah Visitor Plaza. The plaza is home to Information and Ticketing, Bakhita's Cafe, Zoo Shop, the Savannah Function and Events Centre and the Safari Park Adventure Playground, all of which overlook a picturesque lake and islands, home to Spider Monkeys and Ring-tailed Lemurs.

Dubbo Golf Club


The Dubbo Golf Club was established as an 18 hole course in 1903 and was relocated to its current position in 1921. In 1995, the 18 hole course was expanded to a state-of-the-art 27 hole course.

The golf course is a challenging par 71 and is set in beautiful surroundings. The most memorable aspects of a round of golf at the Dubbo Golf Club are the many majestic trees, the sculptured fairways, slick undulating greens and that "miles from anywhere" atmosphere; not to mention the local kangaroos known to visit the fairways.

The Dubbo Golf Club offers all visitors and members a practice fairway, pitching green with bunker, driving nets, practice putting green and professional staff available for either group or individual tuition.

All players are offered self drive golf carts, but most visitors prefer to walk the course with pull buggies and enjoy the ambience.

As one of the hottest summer festivals on the calendar, the annual Red Hot Summer Tour is once again bringing out an incredible line-up of the best talent in the Australian Music Industry.

The 2016 tour features the proverbial who's who of Oz rock royalty featuring Jimmy Barnes,
Noiseworks, The Angels, Mark Seymour and The Undertow and The Badloves. Set to be the largest tour in the festival's history, audiences can expect a day jam packed with classic hits with dates running throughout Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania.

Dubbo Stampede


The Dubbo Stampede at Taronga Western Plains Zoo is the only major running festival that takes place in a zoo, anywhere in Australia.

As well as the opportunity to run close to the zoo animals, the event also includes running around the surroundings of the Macquarie River. The zoo and the river create a truly unique environment for competitors.

This year, we plan to make the Dubbo Stampede bigger and better! This unique running festival offers you the chance to hit your health and fitness goals in an inclusive and friendly community event. Whether you are keen to walk 5.5 kilometres, run 10 kilometres, or smash out a half or full marathon, there is something for you.

The event is all about participation, not world records. It doesn't matter if you walk or run, everyone is encouraged to come along and participate in a unique event.

New Year's Eve Fireworks Party


Celebrate New Year's Eve in Dubbo with a fireworks display to be held at Caltex Park. Fireworks start at 9pm and this is a family friendly event.

BYO picnic, snacks, rug or chairs. Please no glass or alcohol - bags will be checked upon entry.

There will be entertainment, market stalls and a mini carnival. NSW Police and security staff will be in attendance.

Entrances via Wingewarra and Cobra Street (Cobra Street entrance closes at 8pm). No internal parking (authorised vehicles excepted).
