Forbes Railway Visitor Information Centre


Forbes Railway Visitor Information Centre is located in the old railway building on Union Street.

The centre is run by volunteers of the Forbes community in conjunction with Forbes Shire Council. The centre provides people visiting the Forbes Shire with information services and assistance in what ever way possible. The centre also has a large range of handmade goods, arts and crafts, Forbes memento's as well as delicious home made cakes and goodies.

If you are interested in the history of Forbes and that of the infamous bushranger Ben Hall, you can learn all about him and his gang in the Ben Hall discovery room and view a recreation of his life and of his death.

Forbes and District Historical Society Museum


The Forbes and District Historical Society Museum is housed in 'Osborne Hall' - the dance hall of the Osborne Hotel which was built circa 1878.

Displayed in the Museum are items pertaining to all facets of the history of Forbes including aboriginal artefacts, furniture, photographs, tools, clothing, and household wares together with a large display of old and historic machinery including an "Ivel" tractor.

There is also an exhibition about Ben Hall - The Myths Behind the Legend, and a World War One exhibition relating to Forbes' contribution to World War One.

Forbes Heritage Walk


Abundant in history, Forbes has long been known for its historic buildings, most of which are still in use today. Many were featured in the film 'The Dish'. The heritage walk allows you to explore this unique heritage and town.

Lake Forbes


Lake Forbes is a restful place for picnickers and travellers. The banks are grassy and there are barbecue and picnic facilities, large shade trees with abundant birdlife and playgrounds. A tranquil relaxing place to meander the 4.8 kilometres of walkway and cycling tracks, sharing the beauty with the swans and other aquatic wildlife living on and around the lake. Lake Forbes also now provides a free water park for the kids which is accessible via Bandon Street.

McFeeters Motor Museum and Visitor Information Centre


McFeeters Motor Museum showcases a stunning private collection of vehicles ranging from 1905 to 1999. Housed in a purpose built complex, the collection consists of veterans, vintage, classic, street rods and custom cars.

As of June 2013, McFeeters Motor Museum has become an accredited Visitor Information Centre. If you are heading into Forbes from the West, be sure to call in and the friendly staff can assist with your enquiries. Also located in the Motor Museum complex is the Superbee Car Cafe, souvenir gift shop .

Kalari Lachlan River Arts Festival Lakeside Celebration


Kalari-Lachlan River Arts Festival presents Lakeside Stage - a variety of performers to serenade you through the day including members of the Canberra Opera Company, The Villebillies, the Ukes of Hazzard, House of tribes, Kristen Woods Dancers and other local performers.

Dotting the Eyes Dragon Boat Ceremony at 1.30pm beside the main stage.
