The Lion of Waterloo


The Lion of Waterloo is believed to be the oldest licensed hotel west of the Blue Mountains that is still standing.
Dating back to 1841, The Lion of Waterloo was a popular destination for coaches, station hands, settlers and later miners.
Cobb and Co coaches would regularly stop here to change horses and refresh passengers before continuing on their journey.
Today the Lion is a charming tavern and restaurant.

Cactus Cafe and Gallery

Oxley Museum


The John Oxley Museum is a collection of historic artefacts tracing Wellington history from 1830 to present time, containing many photographs and specialty displays.

The museum is housed in the former Bank of NSW building constructed in 1883.

The museum is staffed voluntarily by members of the Wellington Historical Society Incorporated.

Family History enquires are welcome to the Wellington Historical Society.

Wellington Open Gardens


Wellington Garden Group will once again be opening local gardens for viewing by the public with six properties including four country gardens featuring as part of "Historical Homes and their Gardens".

This year sees a special focus on Wellington's 200 year history this year with all homes featured being built in the 1800 and 1900s (please note that the public will not be able to walk through homes only the gardens).

Highlights of the four country gardens include:

'Nyrang' built of bluestone c.1898 and will feature Sue and Paul's Rustic Garden Art.

'Keston' (pictured) c.1897 featuring Relic Garden Art by Cherie Hughes.

'Towri' c.1880s will feature art work by Jan Payne throughout their Country Rose Garden.

'Narrawa' c.1908 is a non-gardeners garden surrounded by a parkland of trees and sculptures.

While Wellington's streets will also come alive as Terry Frost and Noel and Helen Grimes open their stunning gardens including plant stalls.

All proceeds raised will be donated to the Wellington Public School, St Mary's Catholic School, Wellington High School and Wellington Christian School.

The Wellington Historical Society will also be opening The Oxley Museum for visitor's throughout the day and entry will be a gold coin donation.

Wellington Bicentenary SpringFest Parade


SpringFest is bringing the biggest town street parade to Wellington yet!

Once again they will be celebrating their town with a nod to the past, present and future. Locals and visitors alike are encouraged to line Nanima Crescent and witness the spectacle that will be the Wellington Bicentenary SpringFest Parade.

The colourful parade will provide entertainment for people of all ages as the town band, gophers, Fowler Steam Engine, cars and floats roll through town. And there's a terrific opportunity for everyone to be involved this year as the SpringFest committee are encouraging participants and spectators to dress in period theme!

Marshalling will take place in Gisborne Street, Wellington from 9am.

SpringFest Rotary Markets and Lions Gold Cup Chariots for Charity


Held in award winning Cameron Park, the Wellington Rotary Markets offer fresh locally made produce, plants, craft, gifts, food, coffee, children's jumping castle and more. The Rotary Markets are held every fourth Saturday of the month. New stall holders always welcome.

PCYC Time for Kids will also be hosting a fundraising event on the day which will see some local identities get locked up and "Do Time to Stop Youth Crime". They will need your support to make bail or they'll stay locked up!

PCYC Wellington will have plenty to keep the kids entertained with sumo suits, a gladiator ring, gymnastic and boxing displays.

Geurie and Wellington Lions Club have again joined forces to host the 2017 Lions Gold Cup Chariots for Charity where teams of three people are asked to enter a team and line up to see if they can be crowned champions!

SpringFest Cycle Classic


The 70 kilometre course starts and finishes next to Wellington's Cameron Park taking in some of Wellington Valley's most beautiful agricultural country. Paddocks of yellow flowered canola, rich green cereal crops and livestock on pasture areas adjoin the route.

Riders wishing to push themselves will find the route sufficiently challenging with an aggregate climb and descent of 542 metres over the course. Riders of all levels will enjoy a great day out as those who are not concerned with 'beating the clock' can stop at Geurie and enjoy coffee and cake at a local caf?. However, all riders must complete the course within four hours and 30 minutes or they will be requested to withdraw from the official event.

Full catering, facilities and entertainment can be found at the finish line and riders are encouraged to wander through the SpringFest Markets in Cameron Park when they arrive back in Wellington.
