Lake Canobolas Reserve


At the foot of Mount Canobolas is a large tranquil lake which provides a range of activities with the changing of the seasons.

Features of Lake Canobolas area include picnic and barbecue facilities, large playgrounds, sailing boats and canoeing on the lake, swimming and fishing.

On the eastern side of the lake is the Old Pumphouse which has been restored to near original condition after being disused for over 60 years. Lake Canobolas, previously known as Meadow Creek Reservoir, was constructed in 1918 to supply water to Orange. The Pumphouse transported the water from the reservoir to Orange. A walking track meanders around the lake and is a haven for native birds and other wildlife such as the echidna.

The Pumphouse is open daily between 9am and 3pm or by appointment.

Wentworth Golf Club

Cook Park Heritage Walk


The self guided walk will teach you about the origins of Cook Park, taking in the Park Guildry adorned with local arts and crafts and the original use of the German 'Whiz Bang Gun. Cook Park was laid out with straight paths and rows of trees, with much of the original design still in place. There is a display of Tuberous Bergonias in the Blowes Conserveratory from February to April every year.

Cook Park embodies the changing colours of Orange. Summer's arrival brings gardens of stunning and vibrant, coloured roses. From February to April, hundreds of begonias bloom in the Blowes Conservatory and in spring, a burst of colour arrives with masses of tulips and daffodils.

triOrange Triathlon Festival


Orange is fast becoming the weekend destination of choice for those looking for a country escape with a touch of class. Set amongst the vineyards and orchards of Orange, stunning Lake Canobolas and its parklands have until recently been a well kept secret.

It's under three hours from Sydney so you can head up on Friday afternoon with the family, race on Saturday in the Kids Miniman, Enticer, Sprint or Olympic distance, then discover some of the award winning eateries and wineries on Saturday night or on Sunday before heading home.

Evocities MTB Series - Orange Six Hour


In 2015 the inaugural Evocities MTB Series was held as the richest MTD Series in the nation, with support from Fairfax Media.

The 2016 season promises to be even better with races across all seven of the Evocities. These seven races will attract approximately 4,200 participants and visitors to cities with a combined service population of over one million people in regional NSW.

The Orange six hour will see Australia's best mountain bikers gear up to compete in the final leg of this major regional NSW enduro race series.

Great Volcanic Mountain Challenge


The Great Volcanic Mountain Challenge is a 'fun run' style event where you can run or walk to the top of Mount Canobolas (1397m), near Orange NSW. There is one 11 kilometre course and a two wave start. While the course is mostly uphill only a couple of sections are steep. Start near Towac Pinnacle Picnic Grounds (off Pinnacle Road) you first visit Mt Towac (a steep section but the views make it worth the effort) and then to Young Man Canobolas before the final climb to Mt Canobolas (also steep).

It takes in spectacular views from the forestry roads and then on to little used bush tracks through beautiful woodland. Total course climb is 520m. Individual, Team or Family group entries. 12th year for this event. It will also incorporate the 2017 NSW Mountain Running Championship.

Australian National Field Days


Started in 1952, the Australian National Field Days (ANFD) is Australia's oldest annual agricultural exhibition where visitors will see a vast range of agricultural machinery, implements, services and ideas. Each year over 600 exhibitors from throughout Australia and overseas display their products and services at the event.

The ANFD is conducted by the Orange Field Days Co-op Ltd, a not for profit co-operative, whose charter is to Advance Australian Agriculture through exhibition, research, demonstration, competition and education.

The event is an exhibition of the latest agricultural technologies to assist farmers achieve their productivity objectives. Machinery, implements and ideas are all on display. In addition fashion and lifestyle products are exhibited in The House Paddock.

The voluntary committee and staff work throughout the year to have a range of topical, interesting and entertaining activities across the site over the three days.
