Argents Hill: Events

Nambucca River Festival

The Nambucca River Festival showcases the richness and diversity of the beautiful Nambucca Valley.

Macksville's River Street will be transformed into an entertainment precinct centred on the innovative River Stage where you can watch high energy water activities on the river (like the top class water ski show) and enjoy the great on stage entertainment available, all tightly scheduled into one continuous show and viewed from the same vantage point. All this close to stalls where you can taste the best of locally produced food and wines.

Saturday evening will again be a highlight - most of last years favourite colourful light-sculpture lanterns will be back (plus another five brand new ones) as will the beautiful fireworks over the river - spectacular! New this year is the addition of a band on the River Stage following the fireworks where you can dance the night away with a musical street party.

Bellingen Music Festival

Mark the date for the 2016 Bellingen Music Festival.

This is the seventh year for this fabulous classical music event with a program as enticing and appealing as in previous years. With its unusual blend of classical music from all traditions, the festival has something for everyone.

New works by Paul Jarman, Festival Composer-in Residence, as well as compositions by secondary music students will be performed. The Bellingen Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Anne Phelan, as well as performances by the talented youth choir from Brisbane, Birralee Voices, will simply win your hearts.

Exciting Fringe events and workshops aim to enrich your Festival experience.

Bellingen Readers and Writers Festival

In 2016, the Bellingen Readers and Writers Festival (BRWF) is delighted to welcome Australia's most popular playwright David Williamson and Sydney Morning Herald columnist and author Richard Glover, who will no doubt attract a large audience when they appear in panel sessions on the stage at the Memorial Hall.

The panel sessions cover journalism, fiction, poetry, online and digital writing, memoir and biography, and playwriting among other topics.

Tony Windsor, back in the political fray, will go head to head with festival director Irina Dunn in a session titled "Death threats be damned, I'm going to stand!"

Other guests of the BRWF include a serving member of the Australian Air Force who writes thrillers and a pilot who turned to fiction to get a conservation point of view across to her readers.
