Clarence River Historical Society Inc


Schaeffer House, which houses a Museum and Research Room, is the headquarters of the Clarence River Historical Society.

The homestead was built by the son of a pioneer German family, Grafton's first architect, Mr F.W.C. Schaeffer, between 1901 and 1903. The society was formed in 1931 and is the oldest country historical society in New South Wales.

Schaeffer House displays beautiful china, glassware and furniture presented to the society over the years. The quality of the exhibits and the magnificent building ensure a most satisfying experience.

A great deal of historic information on the Clarence and its people can be found at the Clarence River Historical Society.

Grafton Regional Art Gallery


Set in the restored 1880s Prentice House, the Grafton Regional Art Gallery is the Clarence Valley's premier visual arts centre.

The Grafton Regional Gallery holds the largest collection of artworks on the North Coast of New South Wales, and continues to develop its vibrant collections. The Gallery presents over 40 exhibitions and 70 programs and events each year.

The gallery's collection focuses on the acquisitions from the Biennial Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award (JADA). The JADA fosters Australian contemporary drawing practice, and as a result, the collection holds many fine examples of Australian drawings. It also includes the historical O'Grady watercolour collection of Australian flora and fauna.

Grafton July Racing Carnival


The Clarence River Jockey Club, located in the picturesque jacaranda tree lined city of Grafton on the NSW North Coast, is home to the richest non-metropolitan carnival in Australia, the famous Grafton July Racing Carnival. The Club provides amenities equal to metropolitan tracks to cater for the July Carnival attracting crowds in excess of 30,000.

With a population of 20,000, Grafton has the infrastructure to comfortably cater for all levels of accommodation with a good variety of restaurants and pubs to suit every taste. Forces of War


The Clarence Valley Orchestra and Chorus under their Artistic Director Greg Butcher continues to commemorate 100 years since World War One and just over 70 years since the end of World War Two. All your wartime musical favourites will include sing-a-longs.

This concert is the third in the Clarence Valley's ANZAC Centenary Commemoration Concert Series 2015 to 2018. Proceeds to Clarence Valley RSL Clubs and Legacy.

Theatre of War


The Clarence Valley Orchestra and Chorus conducted by their Artistic Director Greg Butcher, takes you on a journey through a 'Theatre of War', commemorating 100 years since World War One in the magnificently restored Saraton Theatre in Grafton.

This performance will also commemorate 50 years since the Battle of Long Tan, Vietnam, paying tribute to the entertainers of the era. A tribute to the end of World War Two will also be performed with songs from the Andrews Sisters and more. Proceeds to local RSL Sub-Branches and Legacy.

There will be two performances, one at 2.00pm and a second one at 7.00pm.

Loving Life Day

The Grafton Farmers Market continues to attract new stallholders while still maintaining its core of regulars. The market is held weekly on a Thursday, in the Christ Church Cathedral Op Shop Car Park on the corner of Duke and Fitzroy Streets. There is street parking available.
