Alumny Creek School Museum and Reserve


The Alumny School operated from 1872 until 1969. It is now a living museum of school life with significant pieces of equipment, school records and memorabilia reflecting various stages of education over these years.

It's a trip in a time machine back to your primary school days featuring many small details that may be long forgotten. The reserve surrounding the school is like a village green with picnic facilities, shady trees and sports facilities.

Lawrence Museum and Historical Society Inc


Established in the old ABC 2NR radio transmitter building in Merton Street, Lawrence is the Lawrence Museum. After getting off the Bluff Point Car Ferry turn right into Merton Street and follow the signs to the museum.

As well as local memorabilia the museum highlights items associated with telecommunications and radio broadcasting from it's early beginnings in Australia.

There is an exhibit recreating a Blacksmith's Workshop and also also photos and memorabilia relating to the Bluff Point Ferry.

Individuals, coach companies and interested groups are invited to visit and enjoy the experiences of radio broadcasting from its very early years in Australia. They recommend coach groups consider a round trip to Lawrence as a day or part day tour incorporating the museum visit.

Squatters Rest Private Museum


Surrounded by vintage tractors, engines and farm machinery, there are 19 old style buildings, including a replica 1880 cook house at the Squatters Rest Private Museum. They make the best billy tea and bushman's bread with cocky's joy.

Staff give a guided tour of the fascinating range of rural memorabilia and then it's billy tea and bushman's bread, and a pianola for sing-alongs.

Ferry Park Gallery


Ferry Park Gallery is located on the Pacific Highway at the southern entrance to the Scottish town of Maclean, overlooking a beautiful section of the Clarence River.

Approximately 60 local artists, members of the Lower Clarence Arts and Craft Association, display their quality works at Ferry Park Gallery. These talented artists fill the gallery with a wide variety of paintings, quilts, hangings, jewellery, cards, glasswork, mirrors, leatherwork, photography, folk art, toys, fibre arts, clothing, woodwork, pottery, porcelain, photography and souvenirs. Clarence Gorge


Located within one and a half hours drive, north-west of Grafton is this rugged gorge where thundering waterfalls and savage rapids intermingle with deep pools and sections of calm water. The scenery is breathtaking and the fishing is excellent. There are three main waterfalls and the Rainbow Falls live up to their name on sunny days.

There are guided 4WD tours available but most visitors enjoy overnight stays at one of the properties that line the gorge. It must be emphasised that the Clarence Gorge is enclosed by private property on both sides. These properties operate as farm stay businesses and can accommodate campers.

A visit to the gorge cannot be achieved in a few hours without any planning and prior arrangements, but those who make the effort are inevitably inspired by their adventure.

Tour de Woodford


The Rotary Club of Maclean began The Tour de Woodford in 2008 as a way of bringing the community of the Clarence Valley together that gave families and individuals the opportunity to have a great time together, but encourage the more competitive rider to pace themselves against their fellow cyclist on one of two open road course, 25 kilometres or 45 kilometres.

Brushgrove (Recreational Triangle park), has proved to be a popular not only for the riders and their families, but also the residence of Woodford Island. The riders come from across the Valley and beyond, with large groups leaving Grafton, Yamba and Maclean early in the morning.

No matter which course you are on there are Marshals, support and direction signage along the way, it is an open road event. Please follow marshal directions and have a safe and wonderful Tour de Woodford.

Clarence Valley Country Muster


Calliope, a tiny community north-east of Grafton will come alive during the Jacaranda Festival for the 2016 Clarence Valley Country Muster.

The stage is set for the fourth magnificent country music festival that in 2013 broke new ground on the NSW North Coast.

This year, country music superstar Adam Harvey will perform some of his greatest hits at the muster, as well as many other acts!

The muster will also serve up country hospitality including a canteen packed with mouth watering, home grown produce.

Prizes are available for people who would like to perform, including a AUD2000 recording package from Kross Kut Records for the best Walk-Up Artist.

National Gravity Enduro Mountain Bike Series


Mountain Bike Riders from all over Australia will converge on Woodford Island Maclean for round five of the National Gravity Enduro Series.

In Gravity Enduro riders will compete over five stages each day with the lowest combined time being declared the winner. The best riders from around the country will compete for the title of Gravity Enduro Champion from under 15's to elite male and female.
