Dovedale: Where To Go / Sightseeing

The Clarence River

The Clarence River, being the largest river on the eastern seaboard, lends itself to extraordinary estuary fishing. It is a living link between the rugged highlands of the upper Clarence and the golden beaches that fringe the sparkling Pacific. It winds through deep ravines and broad plains, ancient forests, lush farmland, sleepy villages and 100 chartered islands. Over 400 kilometres from source to sea, the Clarence is one of Australia's largest waterways. It was once the region's main trade route and several ferries still link the River's islands and rural villages.

The mighty Clarence River is an attraction not to miss whilst holidaying in the Clarence Valley.

River descriptions and maps of boating routes with GPS coordinates, campsite options, points of interest and towns with amenities are to be found in The Sailing and Cruising Guide, which can be picked up from the Visitors Centres in Grafton and Maclean.

Soulful Concert featuring James Morrison

James Morrison has recently returned from highly acclaimed tours of Europe and the USA. In Chicago, at the legendary Green Mill Jazz Club with his Academy Jazz Orchestra, he was reviewed by Howard Reich (Chicago Tribune) who commented: "he's widely admired in the realm of Jazz, particularly for his wizardry on trumpet".

From taking jazz to a city that helped invent that music genre, James Morrison will visit Grafton for only the third time in almost 30 years. This time he will play in the Grafton Cathedral and be supported by Gospel singer, Evelyn Duprai, at the SOULful 2017 Concert, proudly presented by FM 103.1 Loving Life.

The programme will showcase standard jazz gospel tracks and original work by James. Lead-up items will include organ, didgeridoo and Voices Over The Valley winner, Grace McDonald, singing her soon to be release single 'Hold on Now'.
SOULful concert starts at 7pm on Saturday May 13.
