Hastings Point

Hastings Point is a quiet village located on the Tweed Coast south of Tweed Heads, Chinderah, Kingscliff and Cabarita Beaches and is popular for its beach, fishing and boating. The coastline here is magical having lovely scenic views. The drives from here to Mount Warning (located west) are really worthwhile and travel through some of the loveliest country in the state. Take the children to the Cudgera Creek estuary where they can swim, snorkel, hire a kayak and explore the estuaries, or enjoy the network of walking and cycle ways that link the surrounding villages. Fish from the beach or estuaries for tailor, whiting, bream, flathead, luderick and mud crabs. At low tide there are a multitude of rock pools to explore seaward of the headland. Humpback whales can be seen from the Hastings Point Lookout during their annual migration. Accommodation ranges from a variety of beachfront units, holiday apartments, holiday homes, caravan park and beachfront camping during school holidays.

Hastings Point: Where To Go / Sightseeing

Hastings Point Beach

Hastings Point is the smallest coastal settlement of New South Wales Tweed Shire; the "Jewel of the Tweed", surrounded by national park, the hamlet is nestled between the ocean on its east and a beautiful but delicate estuary on its west.

It is the entrance for the now nationally recognised "Green Cauldron" and is identified without doubt as one of the unique seaside locations in Australia.

With an unspoiled beach, visitors come here to appreciate nature at her finest, while the local residents help protect, clean and nurture the environment, acting as stewards for future generations. Put simply, there is nothing like it. For as long as one can remember, seasonal campers have been attracted to the natural beauty of Hastings Point, returning often.

With a safe creek feeding onto the beach, Hastings Point has provided a wonderful playground for local families for years.

There is a new Skateboard Park, headland, Barbecue Park and Picnic areas and uninterrupted views over the ocean; whale-watching is a local pastime.

The beach is renowned for its surfing and hosts many carnivals during the year. An annual charity event held at Cabarita is The Greenback Tailor Fishing Competition which attracts hundreds of competitors from NSW and QLD. The village boasts the only beachside hotel in the Tweed Shire with both residents and visitors being able to eat and drink within a short distance of the main beach.
