Jackadgery is an old gold mining town and overlooks the Mann River and some truly spectacular countryside. Some reclusive prospectors still seek out a living by panning for gold and fossicking for gemstones.

Visitors can enjoy a dip in the river, fishing, canoeing and bushwalking. There are lovely scenic drives through Cangai, Hanging Rock, Fine Flower and Copmanhurst and many nature reserves and national parks nearby such as Gibraltar Range and Washpool.

Jackadgery: Where To Go / Sightseeing

Iluka Main Beach

Main beach is a long sandy beach popular for surfing particularly at the wall and at the northern end. This is a dog friendly beach, but visitors must adhere to the signage. The adjacent car park has plenty of parking, toilets and cold water showers. 4WD vehicles can be taken onto the beach at low tide after having first obtained a permit from council.

At the northern end of the beach the remains of the old railway tracks can be seen at low tide with the occasional wheel emerging from the sands. This is a remnant from the tramway erected to carry rock from the headland used to create the stabilizing North Wall. A curious rock formation can be sighted and has been referred to as the Tsunami stack.
