Terania Creek

Terania Creek is famous for its local residents who were the first local residents in the history of the Australian environmental movement to place themselves between a bulldozer and a forest. The protest was an important event in the campaign to gain World Heritage listing for the forests of central eastern Australia.

Spectacular Protesters Falls in The Nightcap National Park is accessible via the Terania Creek Road from The Channon. Enjoy its picnic area only 500 metres from the waterfalls.

Protesters Falls


Located in World Heritage Nightcap National Park, Protesters Falls is a must see while exploring the Lismore Hinterland. The easy walk from Terania Creek Picnic Area winds its way through the bangalow palm forest to the base of the falls.

Swimming is not permitted in the area as it is home to the endangered Fleay's barred frog.

Protesters Falls and Terania Creek is home to the first successful anti logging protest in 1979. For more information please call The Lismore Visitor Information Centre.

Djanbung Permaculture Gardens


Djanbung Permaculture Gardens is a superb example of earth wise living. Djanbung Gardens is dedicated to permaculture, ecological design and the development of human creativity and skills.

Djanbung Gardens was founded in 1993 as a purpose-built living, learning environment for permaculture education and permaculture demonstration. The gardens attract visitors and students from around the world. Many come to visit the Resource Centre or do a tour of the gardens, eco-buildings and working permaculture systems at Djanbung and Jarlanbah. Others participate in the training programmes, internships and volunteer programmes.

Djanbung Gardens is located one kilometre from the heart of Nimbin Village. They welcome visitors during their open hours in the Djanbung Gardens Resource Centre and offer self-guided (AUD5.00) and guided tours (Saturday at 11am AUD15-20.00).

Groups welcome and regular workshops are available.

Nimbin Artists Gallery supports local artists by showing and selling their work and giving them advice and feedback. The gallery is entirely volunteer run and not for profit since opening in 1997.

Nimbin School of Arts


The Nimbin School of Arts Hall opened officially on September 16, 1904. It was built for religious purposes from available government funding. It has traditionally been a venue for local events including dances, engagements, wedding receptions, and other celebrations with people travelling from as far away as Lismore, Jiggi, Wadeville, The Channon and Blue Knob.

The Nimbin School of Arts has continued this in its contemporary usage, with events including Blue Moon Cabarets, Blue Moon Dance, Nimbin Performance Poetry World Cup, the Autumn Arts and the Spring Arts Exhibitions and many other local celebrations, classes and events.

The Nimbin Farmers' Market is held each Wednesday afternoon from 3pm. A great opportunity to buy fresh produce with very limited food miles, including bread, meat, vegetables, tofu, cheeses, and other seasonal fruit and veges. All produce is grown locally, by local farmers, for the enjoyment and health benefits of locals and visitors to the village.
