Lake Liddell

Lake Liddell is located approximately 15 kilometres south of Muswellbrook, just off the New England Highway. Covering some 1,133 hectares, Lake Liddell provides recreational boating and fishing having been stocked with Australian Bass. There is a boat to launch your boat from and there are no boating restrictions on the lake.

Lake Liddell not only offers fishing, it has a bird sanctuary, picnic/barbeque area, an oval, tennis courts, ample parking, kiosk and toilets and showers. Gates to the recreation area do have opening and closing times so please be aware of these when planning your trip. Camping with caravan access is permitted on site, however, fees do apply.

Lake Liddell Recreation Area

Lake Liddell Recreation Area is situated 15 kilometres East from Muswellbrook on Hebden Road. As well as day visitors, it caters for fifty sites of which ten are powered. Patrons use the park for skiing, sailing, swimming, camping and fishing. The park is also a dog on lead friendly park.

Middle Falbrook Bridge over Glennies Creek

Completed in 1904, the Middle Falbrook bridge is a timber truss road bridge, and has strong associations with the expansion of the road network and economic activity throughout NSW, and Ernest DeBurgh, the designer of this type of truss.

DeBurgh trusses were significant technical improvements over their predecessors. The Middle Falbrook bridge has piers made from Monier pipes filled with concrete, which is representative of the emerging concrete technology in bridge construction.

Middle Falbrook Bridge is located in the Hunter region, which has 15 historic bridges each constructed before 1905, and it gains heritage significance from its proximity to the high concentration of other historic bridges in the area. In 1998 there were 10 surviving DeBurgh trusses in NSW of the 20 built.

Bridges are not just functional, they can also be scenic and engineering attractions. Spare a few minutes to admire Middle Falbrook Bridge over Glennies Creek.

Heuston Lookout

Heuston Lookout Park was formerly farmland which was donated to the community by the estate of P.A. Heuston, specifically to be used as a lookout.

The Apex Club of Singleton in association with Singleton Council developed the site for both locals and visitors to enjoy.

The viewing platform is situated 60 metres above the Hunter River and looks west towards the mines at Warkworth.

Muswellbrook Aquatic Centre has three outdoor pools for the summer season and a 25 metre heated indoor pool, which is a beautiful 28 degrees Celsius all year round. The aquatic centre also boasts modern change facilities, creche and fitness centre.

Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre

The Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre is located on the New England Highway, three hours drive northwest of Sydney and two hours from Newcastle. The town of Muswellbrook lies in the Upper Hunter region among a diverse rural and industrial economy encompassing coal mining, farming, vineyards and the horse industry.

The Arts Centre was originally established as a regional gallery in 1976, it was housed in a purpose built annexe attached to the Muswellbrook School of Arts. The new Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre was commissioned in July 2000 at a cost of more than AUD1.7 million.

The Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre presents travelling exhibitions, local exhibitions and art prizes (including the Muswellbrook Photographic Award and the biennial Muswellbrook Open Art Prize) along with periodic selections from the permanent collection.
