Richmond Vale Railway Museum


The Richmond Vale Railway Museum is a volunteer non-profit organisation, formed in 1979 with the aim of preserving the Railway and Mining Heritage of J and A Brown and the Hunter Valley.

The museum is located in the old Richmond Main Colliery site, four kilometres south of Kurri Kurri in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales.

The museum runs trains on the first three Sundays of each month and each Sunday during school holidays. Other attractions include a mining museum, mining and rail exhibits outdoors, shady picnic areas, canteen, and souvenir shop.

The museum also offers mid week tours and special night time events.

Steam is the main power but can be substituted without notice with diesels (due to total fire ban days or operational issues).

You will need an FM car radio or a portable FM radio with reliable batteries in order to hear the sound.

If you wish to sit outside your car, remember to bring a "portable" FM radio. Bring some chairs, bean bags or blankets for your comfort if required. Remember to bring some warm clothes, as the night can get chilly at times.

The first four rows are low vehicle areas. 4WD'S, wagons or hatches with raised tail gates, vehicles with roof racks or high aerials and vehicles which staff feel may impede the viewing of others, must park from row five through to row 15.

Fox Rollercoaster Superflow Series Round One hydrated by Camelbak


Round One of the Fox Rollercoaster is taking you to Killingworth near Newcastle! A network of really "old-school" trails with great rock and berm features.

Why Superflow? The race tracks are picked so that they give the riders that "super flowy" feeling! Each track will demand different skill sets of the riders - from tricky sections around rocks and tight corners to flowy berms and quick stints that needed pedal power and endurance.

This is a mountain bike event that is a competitive race but still very social - you will ride in neutral to the starts of the three race tracks and the combined race times will count. In-official practice will be offered on the Saturday, race day is Sunday with all trails open for exploring and practice in the morning. Racing will start around midday - there is now a specific start list, you pick your race time! It allows riders to race with their friends and families, even if they are in different categories! Spectator entry is free and racers can register online! Junior discounts offered.

Coal Face Pedal


Kurri Coal Face Pedal takes place in Kurri Kurri in New South Wales, to support the Rescue Helicopter Service.

There are three days of events, including the Mountain Bike Sunset Ride on Friday, and the Road Ride Coal Face Teams Road Challenge on Saturday. Sunday brings the Coal Face Pedal Mountain Bike Rides with family options of five and 10 kilometres, as well as general options of 20 kilometre, 40 kilometre, or 60 kilometre rides.

Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival



The Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival is now in its second decade and has established itself as one of the Hunter's premier annual festivals, featuring all things 1950s - rock n roll, cars, music, fashion and dancing.

The three day program of events includes the Show and Shine vintage car display, retro market stalls, talent quests, best dressed competitions, fashion parades, Rock n Roll dancing and plenty of live entertainment in the main street of Kurri and at the local clubs.

Loop the Lake


In it's 20th year, Loop the Lake is a charitable cycle ride around beautiful Lake Macquarie. All profits go to charities with the three major beneficiaries in 2017 being John Hunter Children's Hospital, Camp Quality and the Cancer Council. Serious riders can ride the complete circuit of 80 kilometres, however there are shorter options. Official start 7am. A new addition for 2017 is the Family Charity Ride. A short ride on the shared pathway along the banks of the lake from Speers Point Park to Warners Bay and return. Staggered start 9.30 - 10.30am. Prize draw for families who register online. Included in the registration price is morning tea, lunch and a free pass to the Speers Point Pool. Come along for a fun day, and raise some much need funds for their worthy causes. Proudly organised by the Rotary Club of Warner Bay and sponsored by Pacific Euro Peugeot and Lake Macquarie Council.
