Australian Motorlife Museum

The Australian Motorlife Museum is dedicated to providing visitors with an insight into the history of motoring, through its showcase of historic vehicles and memorabilia and through their events, publications, and library. Displays include gramophones, very early typewriters, signs, and much more.

The Australian Motorlife Museum has a unique position in the tourism arena and has a national reputation within the heritage motoring community. The current collection comprises thousands of antique items and continues to grow at an astonishing rate.

The museum is now the home of the Paul Butler Collection which includes about 16 motor vehicles prior to 1930, and many items of memorabilia - all of which will be put on exhibition progressively as they are restored.

Sydney Microlight Centre

Sydney Microlight Centre is Sydney's closest approved microlight training facility. Located at Illawarra Regional Airport, Albion Park Rail, just over an hour's drive south of Sydney at the end of the M1 Princes Mototorway. The Illawarra region is the perfect environment in which to learn to fly. The stunning scenery, beaches, Lake Illawarra and the escarpment as a backdrop are some of the most beautiful views in Australia.

They usually fly out over Lake Illawarra, down the coast past all the fantastic beaches towards Kiama then back through the Jamberoo Valley if conditions and time allow. Alternatively, out to the coast and then northwards following the beaches, towards Wollongong and return. Either way, there is no better aircraft for sightseeing than the microlight.

Flights last about 36 to 40 minutes. They provide helmets, headset and intercom. Bring a warm jacket and gloves, in case the day turns cold.

NSW Air provides Scenic Joy Flights over Shellharbour and the region from Illawarra Regional Airport, Albion Park Rail.

The Bridge to Beach flight flies north to the Seacliff Bridge taking in the beautiful coastal views and northern beaches before returning south via Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama and back to the airport.

Flights can also be extended to fly north and over Sydney Harbour, taking in views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, or south down to the Shoalhaven via the coast and Jervis Bay.

Ride Around The Lake

Ride Around The Lake is a charity recreational cycle around Lake Illawarra, Wollongong.

2017 ushers in the seventh edition of the popular ride, attracting over 500 recreational riders, all out to "Break the Cycle of Youth at Risk of Homelessness".

It's all out fun, as over 500 recreation riders take to either the 40 kilometre "Ride Around the Lake" or the "10 kilometre Lake Ride' perfect for younger riders, and less experienced.

The ride is held within mostly cycle paths around Lake Illawarra, or quieter streets, is well marshalled, sign posted with and key services for a safe and fun ride.

The 40 kilometre ride starts in groups from 7.45am, then at 9.00am the kids ride.

Lighthouse Youth Initiative helps break the cycle of Youth Homelessness in the Illawarra providing accommodation and life education programs.

Spectacular course, fun filled and ideal for all rider levels.
