Taree Heritage Walk


The Manning Valley was first explored by John Oxley in late 1818 but the first town did not appear in the Valley until 1850's. Taree did not start to prosper until the 1920's when the arrival of the railway saw the town increase in popularity and industry start to establish itself in agriculture, forestry and dairying due to reliable access to the Sydney markets.

This self-guided walk around Taree highlights a number of built and natural items of significance to the history of the city. The walk is approximately five kilometres. Allow up to two and a half hours to visit all the items of interest. Take drinking water and wear comfortable shoes.

You may also like to allow time to stop along the river bank for lunch. The Western Walk begins and ends at Fotheringham Park, and features the Manning River, Taree West Conservation Area, churches, and public buildings.

Manning Regional Art Gallery


The Manning Regional Art Gallery provides a range of cultural and artistic experiences to residents and visitors in the Manning Valley.

The gallery is committed to curating more than 12 exhibitions each year and is responsible for providing access to touring exhibitions otherwise unavailable to residents of the Manning and surrounds.

A number of education programs are developed by the gallery each year to involve community participation with the aim of increasing public access to, and understanding of art. The gallery is also available for event hire and is a unique space offering a great ambience.

A TasteFest on the Manning


Taree Lions Club in conjunction with Civic Heart and Foundation Sponsor GPB Partners, is excited to bring TasteFest on the Manning community and producers event to Manning Valley for the people of the Mid Coast region and its visitors. Please join them as they take your taste-buds and other senses on a wild ride at TasteFest, on the beautiful foreshore park of the Manning River. There will be lots of shade whilst enjoying the coastal breeze.

TasteFest will showcase the best the Manning Valley and surrounds has to offer and will include craft beer, food, wine, entertainment and music, as well as activities on the river.

TasteFest on the Manning is conducted by Taree Lions club as a charity that benefits the community and celebrates life in the Manning Valley. They look forward in having you join in the fun, fine food and festive spirit.

There will be an official opening from 9:30 AM; TasteFest from 10 AM through to 8 PM in Queen Elizabeth Park in the central business district of Taree. Main pedestrian entrance is Manning Street, next to the Exchange Hotel.

Easter Powerboat Spectacular


Every year, the town of Taree on the Manning River plays host to the Easter Powerboat Spectacular. The event attracts both local and international drivers with some of the best racing on offer, right on the banks of the picturesque Manning River.
