Tumut Valley Violets

Tumut Valley Violets is a small business with a difference, it started off as a hobby in the early 1980's and is now a major tourist attraction in the Tumut region.

Set in the grounds of the old Tumut Plains school (established circa 1878), amid cottage gardens and two acres of trees, just seven kilometres from Tumut town centre.

It is the largest collection of African Violet in Australia and enthusiasts come from all over Australia and overseas to see them.

The Garden cafe is open Wednesday to Sunday and renowned for its scrumptious home-made Devonshire Teas or great coffee. Soft drink is available for the young ones. Coaches and groups are most welcome.

They carry a full range of products and accessories to propagate your own African Violets from leaves that can be selected from their stock plants.

The street party is something special; with talented local entertainers performing on two stages, buskers, and street theatre along with about 80 market stalls focussing on ciders, gourmet foods, locally grown produce, and tempting homemade delights.
