Lake Wyangan

Lake Wyangan is a 10 minute drive north-west of Griffith. The lake was formed in 1957 using the remains of a gypsum mine and a natural swamp area. Offering many water sports including boating, fishing, waterskiing or sailing. The lakeside has picnic and barbecue areas for a relaxing break. Wildlife enclosures featuring native animals and bird life are found throughout the picnic area.

The Griffith Boat Club is a member run club on the grassy shores of Lake Wyangan. The club boasts its own club house, boat ramp, barbecue facilities, and lush green lawns.

The Boat Club hosts a variety of racing - Easter time is time for the Jet Boats racing in the sprint track and throughout the year, powerboats and formula powerboats race on the lake as well as ski racing.

Camping facilities are available, with toilets and showers. It's the perfect place for a day, weekend, or week of skiing, fishing or just relaxing.

Pioneer Park Museum


Set in 11 hectares of natural bushland, the Pioneer Park Museum features 40 historic buildings and hundreds of historical items from the early pioneering days in the area. The museum highlights the influence Italians had on the area. You will find original buildings, machinery, vehicles, antiques and even Churches amongst the collections.

The recently added Wine Building aims to educate visitors on their proud winemaking history and offers a glimpse into the rich history of wine grape growing in Griffith.

The Italian Museum houses an incredible collection of artefacts from the earliest Italian settlers, from machinery to kitchenware and beautiful handmade garments.

Griffith Cup


The Griffith Jockey Club Cup Meeting is one of the premier events on the Griffith calendar. Held once a year at Dalton Park, the races are a great day out for all!

The Griffith Cup race day program features six races with local bookies and TAB, public bar and canteen as well as activities for the kids. Fashions on the Field will be held once again with great prizes.

City to Lake Fun Run


Starting at the site of the proposed private hospital site on Animoo Avenue, the annual City to Lake run will conclude at Lake Wyangan Picnic Ground.

Run, walk or ride the scenic route from Griffith city site of Community Private Hospital in Animoo Avenue to the picturesque Lake Wyanga Picnic ground, a distance of 10 kilometres. This is the major annual fundraiser for the Community Private Hospital. There will be trophies for runners and riders in age categories as well as lucky number prizes. Entertainment and catering available at the finish line
