Wagga Wagga Botanic Gardens


Located at the base of Willans Hill, the Wagga Wagga Botanic Gardens are set over 22 acres.

A mini zoo, free flight aviary, children's adventure playground, and rainforest section will keep the kids occupied for hours. Other attractions within the gardens include the Tree Chapel and Chinese pavilion. Various garden areas showcase camellias, cacti and succulents, proteas, Australian natives and roses.

The Willans Hill Miniature Railway operates the first and third Sunday of each month. The track runs through woodlands, a tunnel and over a bridge. Train rides operate between 10.30am and 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm. Covered footwear is essential to ride the trains.

The caf? located in the gardens, Little el, offers in-house and takeaway dining, small gifts, free Wi-Fi and a book exchange. Covered barbecues are also available.

Willans Hill Miniature Railway


Situated in the Botanic Gardens, the Willans Hill Miniature Railway runs through the garden and features an authentic station and booking office.

The track weaves through a garden setting, through woodlands, a tunnel and over a bridge. No visit to Wagga Wagga is complete without a ride! Covered footwear is essential to ride the trains.

An invitation run is held in November every year, where a gathering of model train enthusiasts Australia wide show their trains to the delight of adults and children alike.

Willans Hill Miniature Railway is also open for groups with prior arrangement.

The trains run on the first and third Sunday of each month from 10.30am to 4pm. Lunch Break: 12.30pm to 1.30pm.

Wagga Wagga's Steam and Vintage Engine Museum operated by Wagga Historic Engine Club Inc. displays a magnificent array of working engines.

There are shearing machines and all types of stationary engines. Take the whole family along to view the vintage steam and oil engines display. An enjoyable and educational outing for only a gold coin donation.

The museum is open on the first and third Sunday of the month from 10.30am to 3pm, or by appointment.
