Tadeusz Kosciuszko Monument


The Tadeusz Kosciuszko Monument is located at the northern entrance to Cooma and was a bicentennial gift from the Federal Council of Polish Associations in Australia to the town. The monument commemorates the discovery of Mount Kosciuszko, and the contribution of Polish settlers to the Snowy Mountains Scheme. There is an information turnout, coach and car parking available.

Mosaic Time Walk


The Cooma-Monaro Time Walk was a community project for the Bicentennial Year of 1988. Colour and design students of Cooma TAFE College created designs based on historical information supplied by Cooma-Monaro Historical Society. Many businesses, community groups and individuals assisted in this project.

The events represented in the mosaics include Monaro Aboriginals, the discovery of the Monaro by European settlers, the early squatters, law and order, Mount Kosciuszko, inns and accommodation, religion, health services, mining, business, transport, Nimmitabel, education, bush rangers, building, forestry, sheep, wool, cattle, snow sports, Dalgety-Berridale, mountain horses, Wragg's observatory, pastoral and agricultural pursuits, trout fishing, Adaminaby, Jindabyne, local government, the Snowy River march, mountain life style, communications, Michelago/Bredbo, armed services, tourism, Kosciuszko National Park, the Snowy Mountains Scheme, pioneer women and other organisations.

Monaro Art Groups Little Gallery


The Little Gallery is operated by the Monaro Art Group and has on display paintings, photographs, crafts and sculptures by talented local artists and craftsmen. All items displayed are available for purchase.

Good parking is available and there are toilets, bakery and shops within the Hain Centre. Wheelchair access is available from the car park and street.

Lambie Town Walk


Discover Cooma's rich history as you take this self-guided tour around some of Cooma's historic landmarks. You can walk, drive or bike, and maps are available from Cooma Visitor Information Centre.

This five kilometre walk takes you through residential and natural areas of scenic and historic interest, and was designed and constructed by the Goulburn Lands Office in 1985 and named for Commissioner of Lands, John Lambie.

The walk includes three Heritage Areas recognised by the National Trust: The Court House precinct, built in the 1860s, Lambie Street, the first commercial centre of Cooma and Church Hill, with examples of nineteenth and twentieth century religious and educational buildings.

Also included in the walk are Centennial Park, Cenotaph, Cooma Gaol and the Southern Cloud Memorial Park.

Cooma Show



Welcome to the Cooma Westpac Show. This year, as usual, there will be great events to entertain the whole family.

In the main arena show jumping, horse ring events, yard dog trials, tree felling, woodchop, tug of war will be held, and there will also be a variety of performers on hand to keep you entertained; and of course the Animal and Produce Pavilions will be open with great displays.

Australian National Busking Championships

The Australian National Busking Championships are to be held on the first Saturday in November.

If you enjoy making music and entertaining outdoors, this is the day for you. Put your hat out and make a bit of money, be in the running for great prizes.

John Briscoe Art Award Exhibition


The John Briscoe Memorial Art Prize is the Monaro's most prestigious art award and is sponsored by the Briscoe family in memory of their father, a prominent Monaro artist.

There are a variety of categories recognising the artistic talent in the Cooma Monaro and Snowy River Region. These include water colours, oils and more. Awards are given in the category sections, overall best entry and viewer's choice. Artists are invited to submit work to be judged for generous prizes.

Adaminaby Cup Race Day

This great local event is held annually in November and is a fantastic day of country racing. Enjoy fashions of the field, prizes to give away, and lots of action on the race track. The feature race is the Snowgoose Cup.

Bookmakers will operate on the Local and Metropolitan races and there will also be an on course tote. No ATM or EFTpos facilities available.

Buses are available every 15 minutes from the Big Trout in Adaminaby to the Race Course.

Food stalls and bar facilities are available on course. Jumping castle and stalls for the children to make it a great family day out.

The rustic Adaminaby Race Course was the set location for Phar Lap's last race in Mexico in the Phar Lap movie.

Cooma Australia Day Celebrations

Head to Centennial Park in Cooma and celebrate Australia Day with a great day of music, exhibitions and displays of what's great in the region. Food will also be available.

The official ceremony will commence at 12pm at the band shell in the Park. Come and join in the fun.
