Macquarie Links International Golf Club

By focusing his efforts upon three major elements - flexibility, memorability and natural beauty - course designer Robin Nelson has sculpted Macquarie Links to be a championship course that is a joy to play.

The course is very much a combination of links style golf with a heathland or 'bush' character. Native grasslands, stands of mature gum trees, and unique 'outback' site furniture provide strong Australian character. Existing and man-made creeks, lakes and subtle topographic formations all combine to create natural golf holes that ebb and flow with the natural landscape.

Macquarie Links is a Par 72 course measuring some 6,300 metres in length, but not overly long by modern standards - the course is a challenge to shot making but not a torturous test of length. Multiple tees give golfers of all standards the ability to enjoy their game with an appropriate level of challenge.

Simmos Beach Reserve

Simmo's Beach is located on the Georges River. Its easy access, picnic facilities, and beach area make it a popular site for local residents. The reserve, which was officially opened in 1986, is named after Simmonds, a past resident, who mined sand adjacent to the Georges River for a number of years.

The reserve is home to a number of endangered and vulnerable ecological community types, including the Sandstone Shale Transition Forest, Hinterland Sandstone Gully Forest, Sandstone Riparian Scrub, Coastal Sandstone Ridgetop Woodland and Castlereagh Scribbly Gum Woodland communities. Numerous threatened species of native flora and fauna have also been recorded at the reserve.

Simmo's Beach Walking Trails vary in distance from 500 metres to 1.5 kilometres. They range from easy paved surfaces to hard, unsealed surfaces.

Ingleburn Reserve

Situated on the Georges River, the reserve contains the historic Ingleburn Weir, which was constructed in the late 1930s to provide a swimming area for the local community.

The weir has a high heritage significance due to its sandstone structure and form. Works were conducted in 2009 to enhance fish passage in the river system and maintain the heritage value of the weir.

The vegetation community at Ingleburn Reserve is classified as the endangered ecological community, Shale Sandstone Transition Forest. The reserve is home to a number of endangered plant species as well as a range of native birds, some marsupials, other small mammals and reptiles.

Picnic tables, play equipment and an amenity block are located at the reserve.

Ingleburn Reserve Walking Trail is a 400 metre return walk. It is a medium grade and has sandstone steps and loose, rocky, unsealed surface.

PacFest

PacFest is Australia's largest annual schools cultural festival with more than 800 performers, more than 200 cultural musicians from over 30 high schools and primary schools combined across Sydney. The inaugural festival commenced in 2014 with only eight schools and to date over 30 schools are now involved. They expect these numbers to increase each year with the introduction of the diversity section for high school groups.

PacFest is a highly impactful youth initiative, which has been hugely successful at increasing the levels of social inclusion, social cohesion and achievement of Pacific, Maori and Indigenous high school students in Sydney. Created by High School Community Liaison Officers and Youth workers, PacFest uses Pacific, Maori and Indigenous Performing Arts as a platform to help young people realise that every young person is a unique individual, yet part of an awesome cultural community in Australia.
