Berrilee

Berrilee is located approximately 30 kilometres north of Sydney in the Shire of Hornsby. The original inhabitants of the Berrilee area were the Darug people. The Darug were the custodians of the majority of what is now the Greater Sydney region. They were divided into a number of different ムclans', whose quick demise upon European settlement has sadly resulted in very little information remaining on how they utilised the local area. Berrilee offers a pleasant country drive to the tranquil setting of Berowra Waters. Towns surrounding Berrilee include: Arcadia, Berowra, Berowra Waters and Galston. Roughley House and The Pines

Roughley House is a colonial heritage listed homestead established in 1856. Unlike other museums, Roughley House denotes the changing lifestyle of one family over five generations, each generation leaving their own stamp.

Clive Roughley the youngest of five children lived in Roughley House until his passing in 2002. In 1984 without any direct heirs to pass on his family home, Clive decided to sell Roughley House and The Pines to The Hills Shire Council. This was provided that the property would become a time capsule of colonial life and the Roughley family's story.

An event that runs to assist in raising awareness and funds for the property is Jazz at The Pines, a live concert series bringing together some of Sydney's top jazz bands.

Viewing of Roughley House is available by prior engagement. Schools, seniors and coach groups welcome. Morning/afternoon teas can be arranged for an additional cost.

The Northern Sydney and Central Coast Retirement Village Expo

Proudly supported by Lend Lease Retirement Living.
The Retirement Expo has been set up for retirees who are considering making the move to a retirement village, or who are interested in gathering information about the many retirement villages, over 55s resorts and aged care facilities that are available.

Each expo provides an opportunity for people to meet with representatives from many different retirement villages and over 55s resorts, all offering different levels of care, all under the one roof, in a neutral environment and without obligation. These expos are totally dedicated to retirement villages, over 55s resorts and aged care.

For retirees, the decision to make the move from the family home to a retirement village or over 55s resort is one that many probably dread, and yet happily settled village residents frequently wonder why they have not made the move earlier.
