Tree-lined streets, large homes set on spacious garden blocks and expensive cars characterise Gordon as a typical, leafy suburb on Sydney's very up-market North Shore.

And along with sister suburbs, Gordon is blessed with expansive parkland. A portion of this green belt has been partially developed as golf and sports grounds, but the vast majority remains as passive bush and national parkland flanking Middle Harbour to the east and the Lane Cove River to the west. Both these reaches of water have direct access to Sydney Harbour.

This green and pleasant suburb borders the North Shore railway which connects directly with the Sydney CBD, the major shopping and dining centres on the lower North Shore and Hornsby on the junction with the main north rail line.

The train, in fact, is not only a comfortable, no-fuss option for travel to the city, but visitors can also use rail for one-day excursions to the Hawkesbury River, Gosford and the Central Coast and Newcastle.
