Glenreagh Memorial Museum

Glenreagh Memorial Museum is on the main road through the village. The museum was built onto the School of Arts, funded by a Bicentennial grant.

Relics of the gold mining days, the early timber industry and old china pieces are featured.

There is an entertainment corner displaying radios from the 1920s and an early film projector.

On the Saturday of the Glenreagh Markets (first Saturday of each month), the museum is open from 9am. Entry outside of this time is by appointment only.

Old Glen Innes Road and the Historic Tunnel Grafton

The Old Glen Innes Road was constructed using civilian labour during the 1800s and just one highlight is the short tunnel carved out of the rock a few kilometres west of Dalmorton. Scrawled upon its ceiling is graffiti dating from the 1880s, written in black paint, each figure finished with a curl so typical of the era.

But first things first: Heading west out of South Grafton finds you on the Gwydir Highway. Travel about seven kilometres along until you reach the top of the hill and take the left hand turn onto the Old Glen Innes Road.

Follow this good quality sealed road for 40 kilometres until it turns to gravel at the locality of Buccurumbi. Cross the low level bridge that sits beside the remains of its flood stricken predecessor at the picturesque junction of Nymboida and Boyd Rivers.

Kangaroo Point: Events

Clarence Valley Camp Oven Festival

Following the success of the inaugural Clarence Valley Camp Oven Festival, the staff and Volunteers at Nymboida Camping and Canoeing are delighted to announce the dates for the 2016 Festival.

A fun filled weekend for the whole family, this year's event promises to be bigger (not too big though, they don't want it to get too crowded) and better than the first one with more entertainment and activities along with the return of all the favourites.

This festival is a celebration of a wonderful outdoor lifestyle and good old Aussie family traditions of camping, campfire cooking and just sitting around the campfire with good food, good people and good yarns.

Come along and enjoy great music, camp oven demonstrations, bush poetry, the Saturday night Bush Dance, markets, dog trials and more demonstrations, and lots of kids activities.

Camping and cabin accommodation available, open campfires permitted.
