Artbank Social Club

*** Latest event details are yet to be confirmed ***
Artbank Social Club 2015 returns for another year of art, food, music and performances.

Artbank's annual open day gives you the opportunity to get a look behind the scenes and gain access to their collection store of 3269 artworks. Whether you want to check out the latest exhibition - Visible Storage - or want to spend hours sliding out the racks that house the painting collection, they're sure you'll be satisfied. And when you hit your art threshold, kick back, eat some food and listen to some great tunes spun by the resident DJ.

For 2015 they are also introducing the Artbank Social Club Market Place. They have invited five of their friends they think are doing some really cool stuff to set up a stall and spruik their wares.

It's going to be big!

Visible Storage

*** Latest event details are yet to be confirmed ***
Exhibition featuring.238 artworks by 154 artists; Indigenous and non-Indigenous from every state in Australia; emerging, mid-career and established - known and unknown - on a 100% yellow backdrop!

Visible Storage brings together works drawn from the recesses of Artbank's collection store. The title pays homage to a strategy by various international collecting institutions of building glass walls around storage areas to create a permanent 'exhibition' of racks and vitrines holding artworks that would be otherwise publicly unavailable. While most of Artbank's storage is designed to be publicly accessible, Visible Storage shines a light on works stored behind the scenes - not easily viewed. Curated by the Artbank team, this exhibition features select works they felt deserved to be shared with the public and granted a new lease on life.

C. Moore Hardy - Sydney, Sex and Subculture (historical, hysterical, and happy recollections of the queer community)

C. Moore Hardy has always wanted to leave a legacy that enhances another generation's understanding of the Sydney Queer Community. Over the last thirty-five years, she has worked extensively as a freelance commercial photographer and voluntarily in cultural development positions for Lesbian and Gay community groups.

She attempted to create images that engaged in an erotic dialogue reconstructing a visual narrative, and have followed the battles, rallies, sorrow, resilience and diversity of the queer community. This exhibition will explore the archival and documentary-style photography, endeavouring to celebrate all things queer.
