Mulwala

Mulwala is located west of Albury and offers many outdoor activities. Close to Lake Mulwala and the Murray River there are many water sport activities, lake cruises, river beaches, walking tracks, local wines, museums, a golf course, animal farm and amusement park.

This picturesque piece of regional Victoria and New South Wales is surrounded by stunning scenery including forests, Lake Mulwala and the magnificent Murray River.

Lake Mulwala was built in the 1930s to capture water from the Murray River. Enjoy lakeside picnics, bird watching, sail boarding, waterskiing, swimming, canoeing and sailing. It is a well-known fishing spot for the native Murray Cod.

Yarrawonga-Mulwala Pioneer Museum


Yarrawonga Mulwala Historical Society has established a massive Museum complex, containing an astonishing array of exhibits, all contained within a spacious indoor facility, opposite the Ski Club in Mulwala.

There is something for everyone: sporting, agricultural, domestic, photographic, aviation, leisure, medical and dental, Defence forces, theaterette, vintage vehicles, Legoland, vehicles and transport, commerce, water, large vehicles, temporary exhibitions and souvenir shop.

Lake Mulwala


Lake Mulwala is an unforgettable sight with its majestic and ghostly river red gums, and offers a range of activities for visitors and locals alike.

Both sides of the lake have attractive foreshores that provide a year-round recreation area, including picnic and barbecue facilities, walking tracks, waterslides, playgrounds, a skate park, swimming pools and a splash park.

Species found in the area include Murray Cod, Trout Cod, Golden Perch (Yellow Belly), Silver Perch, and Murray Crayfish.

The Mulwala Water Ski Club is the largest licensed water ski club in the world.

Situated on the shores of Lake Mulwala, with spectacular waterfront views, members and guests can relax in air-conditioned comfort and enjoy the top class facilities on offer.

Cod Classic


Entering its Seventeenth year, Australia's richest freshwater fishing tournament and the most eagerly anticipated fishing social event of the year, the 2016 Yamaha Cod Classic and Junior Cod Classic, is drawing near.

This December see Lake Mulwala come alive with an expected 3,000 plus anglers and 1,400 boats. The Cod Classic continues to offer an amazing prize pool totalling in excess of AUD100,000, including a number of boating packages. All the normal features remain including Flathead Fred, 'Cod Talk', casting competitions and the Fishing and Outdoors Expo. You would be crazy to miss this great weekend in Yarrawonga Mulwala and the chance to 'catch a legend' on the twin towns' famous Cod fishing lake. Friday from Midday is the Fishing and Outdoors Expo.

Christmas Monster Market


The annual Christmas Monster Market will be held at the Yarrawonga Foreshore. Running from 8:00am to 1:30pm.

The Christmas Monster Market offers a large variety of stalls and the opportunity for some last minute Christmas shopping for some quirky items. There are some fun rides and petting zoo to entertain the children.

With the gorgeous backdrop of Lake Mulwala, why not make a day of it and pack yourself a picnic lunch and bring along some fold out chairs and really soak up the atmosphere.

Yarrawonga Mulwala is the jewel in the crown of the Murray River region in Australia. Nestled at the western end of Lake Mulwala, the region referred to as 'Sun Country on the Murray' is blessed with long hot summers and mild winters.
