Saunders Gorge Sanctuary


Eco-tourism accredited Saunders Gorge Sanctuary is a private property of 1364 hectares located on the rugged eastern slopes of the Mount Lofty Ranges overlooking the vast Murray Plains, 18 kilometres east of Mount Pleasant on the Walker Flat Road. Offering visitors the opportunity to experience the harsh Australian landscape, learn about and enjoy the natural environment. The property is now a combination of conservation and sheep grazing, formerly Clovelly Sheep Station. The owners Brenton and Nadene Newman are dedicated to natural habitat preservation.

Some of the features of the sanctuary include a large array of native fauna, a wonderful diversity of native flora, spectacular rocky gorges with magnificent old red gum trees and spring filled water hole and steep, rugged hills covered in native grasses and shrubs. Saunders Gorge Sanctuary has Eco Tourism Accreditation.

Mount Pleasant Farmers Market


Located at the picturesque Mount Pleasant Showground, the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market is only a 40 minute drive from Adelaide and nestled on the outskirts of the Barossa Valley and the Adelaide Hills.

A community run business, the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market is the place to go to purchase affordable local food and support local farmers. Open Saturdays from 8am to 12pm, the undercover market is a weekly showcase for fresh, regional and seasonal food brought to you by the people who grow and make it.

Stallholders range from fruit, vegetables, milk, cheese, eggs, honey, olive oil, meat, seafood, bread and baked goods, hot breakfasts, fresh coffee, jams, preserves and wine.

The market even has a unique dog-minding service for those shoppers who love to bring their four legged friends along.

Bring your family and enjoy a hearty country breakfast. Delight in some organic coffee and drink in the atmosphere of an "authentic" farmers market.

Mannum Golf Club


Mannum Golf Club features a very interesting course whose innocent appearance belies its ability to test all golfers. The nine excellent greens and fairways have 18 strategically placed tee blocks, which to all intents and purposes gives the impression of a full 18 holes. Access to good water allows the course to retain a green appearance even in the driest season. The course is 5,707 metres with a par 73 and has an Australian course rating of 69.

Men have competition days on Tuesdays and Saturdays, women on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Visitors are always welcome and the club has membership vacancies at very reasonable rates.

River Lane Blacksmith Tours


The River Lane Blacksmith Shop at Mannum is available for tours daily. The shop has been authentically recreated to original working order, dating back to the 1880's.

Visitors will be shown the making of horseshoes using the forge and anvil. The history of Blacksmithing and the tools used will also be explained.

There is also a display of old machinery such as bellow's, drills and other equipment. A display of medieval full suits of armour and weaponry can be seen with a small talk about the armour dating back to the sixteenth century explaining the way they were made and how they were used.

Visitors are welcome to bring their cameras and take a photo of themselves in a suit of armour.

Demonstrations last approximately 20 to 30 minutes. This is for group bookings only.

The River Lane Blacksmith Shop is situated opposite the Mary Ann Reserve, near the Murray River Princess mooring where there is seating, picnic area, playground and toilet facilities.

Mannum Dock Museum Of River History


Mannum Dock Museum of River History, on the banks of the Murray River is home to the fully restored Paddle Steamer Marion and presents river history at its best along with information for all visitors to the Murraylands region.

Museum displays follow the life of the Murray River from its birth, showcasing fossilised sea creatures; the occupation of the Aboriginal people; boat building; Ngarrindjeri dreaming and the birth of river trade, its growth and the important part it played in our history.

A "must see" for families is exploring the exciting new interactive display, "All Steamed Up", where you become a River Boat Captain and steer along the River Murray. Understand the science of steam power. Listen to the sound of the paddle wheel, learn about snags, snakes and river life.

See our blacksmith shop in operation on Wednesdays and on PS Marion short cruise days.

Alongside the PS Marion and the Museum's main building is the Randell Dry Dock and its fully restored, historic Key Beam Steam Engine. Visit the PS Marion in dock and the many rich river heritage experiences available.

Mount Pleasant Farmers Christmas TwilightMarket


The Mount Pleasant Farmers Christmas Twilight Market is set to shine again at the annual Christmas Twilight which will be held at the Mount Pleasant Showgrounds on Thursday 22 December.

The market will have its usual offerings with local and fresh produce ready for your Christmas table including fish, wine, bread, milk, cream, gluten free products, fruit, vegetables, meat, homemade products, all your condiment needs, beer, chocolates, and tea.

Easy parking and friendly stallholders make for stress free Christmas shopping. Shed 2 Full catering will also be doing a delicious dinner menu, along with other dinner options.

The twilight market will be open from 5pm until 9pm.

Please note: the market will not be open on Saturday 24 December but will resume trading on Saturday 31 December 2016 from 8am to 12 noon.

Mannum Agricultural Show


The Mannum Agricultural Show is the best "little" country show, held on the first Saturday in March each year.

In 2017 this family fun event will be celebrating its 94th year.

We strive to provide a wide range of entertainment to suit all ages, with all the traditional Agricultural Show sections including: Rural Ambassador, Show Persons, sheep shearing, sheaf tossing, cattle, goats, poultry, horses, food and music.

There will be stalls, cookery, scones, fruit cake, crafts, needlework, knitting and crocheting, flowers, art, photos, pets, produce, fruit and vegetables, ute muster, Green and Gold trail and carp throwing.

Game Obsession Expo at Mannum


Our first Game Obsession Expo at Mannum was a family friendly event featuring games, hobbies, obsessions and interests.

Where else could you play and watch a Quidditch Match, and see the Ironclad Academy of the sword duelling with their Medieval re enactment, along with firing of a Moat Perrier throughout the day. We had a come and try Warhammer 40K tournament (hive con), Southern Wilds Live Action Role Play LARP kept were kept busy with kids and adults alike, The Southern Dewback garrison 501st Legion made an appearance in the morning much to the delight of everyone around. Fire Bear Armoury set an impressive display and Whip moto cross displays. At 4.15 the oval was cleared to watched SA Skydiving undertaking a live parachute drop.

Other attractions included southern districts car club display, Tractor pull tractors, Axes, Pok?mon, Transformers, Games, Collections, Model boats, Model trains, cars and Model planes, dolls and dolls houses and airbrush displays.
wood turning and artist Blacksmith were also in residence for the day

Mon Cherie rocked their heart out and food stalls provided a excellent selection of tasty foods ,plus there was rides on the extreme thriller , camels and ponies
