Nelshaby Capers

Nelshaby Capers produce a full range of Caper and Caper related products. The products include a range of four sizes of buds, from Premium, (smallest) to Large with Non Pareil and Surfine filling out the range. The large buds are also available as semi-dried buds.

The range also includes a Caper and Olive Tapenade, Caper Berries and Caper Stuffed Kalamata Olives as well as Caper Spice mix and a dark premium chocolate with Caper. Our Quandong trees are now producing and we have a Quandong Paste available as well.

An added product is cutting grown plants, cuttings being taken from our four best plants. These are available from October onwards each year and larger orders are taken as grow to order for the next year.

We welcome anyone who wants to have a look at our plants during the growing season, from October to April. Just get in touch prior to visit to make sure someone is about to show you the plants.

We sell product from the farm gate, as well as a large mail order component of our business.

Taralee Orchards

Taralee Orchards is a Demeter certified biodynamic stone fruit orchard located in the Wirrabara Forest area of the Southern Flinders Ranges.

We produce a range of stone fruits including apricots, peaches, nectarines and plums, as well as quinces and a small amount of apples, pears and figs.

Fresh fruit is available in season, and we produce a range of sulphur-free dried fruit and jams. We also have a vegetable garden producing mainly summer vegetables, as well as beehives, free range poultry and a small beef cattle herd.

Our produce is available direct through our farmgate as well as at several local producers markets, such as Wirrabara, Port Pirie and Port Germein, and at local Shows and events. The farmgate is generally open seven days, however please phone ahead to confirm.

Our aim is to produce a range of good quality organic produce, and to market it ourselves, primarily within our region.

Sensational Skate Park

Port Pirie's newest youth attraction, 4Shore Sk8 Park, was officially opened in July 2008. This long-awaited project was the result of tireless campaigning and hard work from a dedicated organising group, including young skaters and bike riders who helped design the park. 4Shore Sk8 has become the hottest hangout in Port Pirie for both children and teenagers. Skaters and bike riders leaping gracefully over jumps have added extra colour to the skyline, with the magnificent Flinders Ranges as a backdrop. The Skate Park is located in the main street of Port Pirie, opposite a range of eateries and other facilities. It is also close to Solomontown Beach.

Port Pirie National Trust Museum

The Port Pirie National Trust Museum incorporates: the old Customs House which was opened in 1882 to cater for the increased shipping in the harbour; the Railway Station building completed in 1902, a fine example of Victorian Pavilion style architecture, which served as a railway station until 1967; and the former Central Police Station, built 1892.

The buildings are now owned by the National Trust and house exhibitions of local history. Displays include: recreated room settings set at about 1900; Port Pirie's largest industry the Pasminco Smelter, formerly BHAS with details of products made and models; railway and shipping history; narrow gauge shunting engine 'Port Pirie'; and a time-line development of Port Pirie.

Port Pirie Regional Art Gallery

Port Pirie Regional Art Gallery is located in the Port Pirie Regional Tourism and Arts Centre, adjacent to the silos and wharf area in the City of Port Pirie.

The Gallery aims to provide opportunities for regional South Australian artists and to foster the development of a rich cultural life for the communities of Port Pirie and the Southern Flinders Ranges. It also has much to offer the travelling public, providing as it does an insight into the artistic life of the region.

The Gallery conducts a diverse program of exhibitions annually, with the emphasis on regional South Australian artists. It also hosts national touring exhibitions from major Australian cultural institutions and develops exhibitions of topical and community interest.

Nyrstar Lead Smelter

Celebrating 120 years of production in 2009, the Nyrstar Port Pirie Lead Smelter is a significant contributor to the Port Pirie Community and the Mid North Region.

Producing and exporting lead, zinc, silver and gold from site on the Upper Spencer Gulf, the smelter is part of the Nyrstar Pty Ltd group, one of the largest integrated zinc and lead producers in the world.

Tours of the Nyrstar Port Pirie Smelter are available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday through the Port Pirie Tourism and Art Centre.

Northern Festival Centre

The Port Pirie Producers Market gives local and visiting foodies the chance to buy from regional growers and producers. A variety of food and craft stalls including local and seasonal fruit and veg, breads, olive oils, honey, dried fruit, jams, preserves, dips, baked goods, coffee, bacon and egg breakfast is available.

Runs second Sunday of the month from 8.30am - Noon at Flinders View Park, Ellen Street, Port Pirie.

Port Pirie Christmas Pageant

The Port Pirie Christmas Pageant has been a local tradition for 5 years.

In 2016 it made it's debut on the streets of Port Pirie for the inaugural evening event and will be back again in 2017.

The pageant begins at 7pm from Memorial Drive and will travel in a clockwise direction along Gertrude, David and Ellen Streets before making it's way down Norman Street to return to Memorial Park.

Flinders Logistics Christmas in the Park
Join family and friends in Memorial Park before and after the pageant for food, drinks, market stalls, music and entertainment between 5:30pm and 10pm.
