New Town Bay Golf Club

The New Town Bay Golf Club is a nine-hole metropolitan golf course north of Hobart. The Club is located in the riverside suburb of Lutana, a 10-minute drive north of the city (6 km).
Formerly known as the Ez Risdon Golf Club, the New Town Bay Golf Club is a private course, open to members, associates and members of affiliate clubs. Features of the course include a challenging ninth hole - a 119-metre downhill par three with challenging bunkers surrounding the green. The Club hosts a ladies' competition each Thursday and mens' competition on Saturdays, and there is a licensed bar in the clubhouse for members - opening hours are displayed on the noticeboard and on the website ( Bookings are recommended.

Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens

The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens are located in Hobart, and are a short drive or walk from the City centre.
In 2018, the Gardens will celebrate it's Bicentenary with a year long series of events and celebrations being held to commemorate this significant milestone.

Rosny Farm Arts Centre

Rosny Farm is the cultural centre in the City of Clarence. The site has important historical roots as a fine example of an early walled farmyard containing a beautiful heritage listed sandstone barn and farm cottage.
The historic Barn at the Rosny Farm is a small scale visual and performing arts space which hosts recitals, concerts, exhibitions and workshops.
The Schoolhouse Gallery is the only public gallery on the eastern shore of Hobart and is a venue for exhibitions of contemporary and community art, and historical displays.
The grounds and cottage have displays of the history and development of Rosny Farm.

Runnymede - National Trust House and Gardens

Runnymede is an elegant colonial homestead situated in New Town, just an eight-minute drive north of Hobart CBD (en route to Mona).
It was built around 1836 for Robert Pitcairn, the first lawyer to qualify in the colony and a leading campaigner against the transportation of convicts from Britain.
When Captain Charles Bayley bought the house in 1864, he named it Runnymede after his favourite ship. The Bayley family lived in the house for the next 100 years. Now dedicated to marine conservation, the house as a large collection of whaling and maritime items.
The historic garden features many historic trees and plants.
The house and gardens are accessible by guided tour (bookings advised via our online booking system) and there are also public and private events held at Runnymede throughout the year.
See the new strolling theatre production 'Take Tea with Harriet' from the creators of Louisa's Walk, which is presented at 1500 on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday (bookings essential).

Sound Preservation Association of Tasmania Inc.

The office (known locally as SPAT)and Museum Collection are located in the heritage listed Old Bellerive Post Office at the junction of Cambridge Road and Queen Street in the historic Bellerive village area. Built of sandstone in 1897 the museum is in the restaurant and retail area, close to galleries, Bellerive Boardwalk, Kangaroo Bay landscaped gardens, Marina, yacht club and wharf. Parking and public toilets are across the road with Bellerive Bluff and Kangaroo Bluff Historic Fort within easy reach. The internationally famous Bellerive Cricket Oval and cricket museum are at the end of Queen Street, with the Bellerive Park and Beach.
The Sound Museum was established in 1989 and has 800 exhibits dating back to sound recording and reproduction from 1903 onwards, plus over 50,000 records including early cylinder recordings, related books and sheet music. An early 35mm. cinema projector, home movie cameras, projectors and some television film equipment is also of interest. We also have some early car radio receivers. Volunteer members can demonstrate various restored items. The collection is curated with the Mosaic museum software programme. A limited collection of electronic equipment maintenance manuals is also available.
