Tamar Island Wetlands Reserve

The Tamar Island Wetlands is a unique urban wetlands reserve just a ten-minute drive from Launceston. A short (500 metre) walk from the interpretation centre takes you to a bird hide with seating where you can observe wetland birds on the lagoon and enjoy a restful break.
An outstanding interpretation centre offers visitors the opportunity to learn more about the value of the wetlands. The interpretation centre and the boardwalk to the island have easy wheelchair access and both have disabled toilet facilities.
The Tamar Island Wetlands Centre offers a range of activities for both adults and children. Volunteers present talks and activities on topics such as wetlands ecology, macro-invertebrates and the pest fish species Gambusia.
A Discovery Ranger program operates daily over the summer holiday period.

Riverside Golf Club Ltd

Riverside Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course located in Launceston, northern Tasmania.
It is one of Tasmania's premier courses (par 73) with gently undulating fairways and picturesque views from the clubhouse. There is a well stocked bar and excellent dining facilities in the clubhouse.
There are also excellent practice facilities including a fairway, putting green and nets. A resident professional is also employed by the club to provide lessons and to advise on all golfing needs to members and visitors alike.

Grindelwald Swiss Village (Attraction)

The Tamar Valley Resort is located in the Swiss-style village of Grindelwald, Northern Tasmania.
The village of Grindelwald was established in the 1980s as a unique residential development. All houses in Grindelwald have been built in Swiss style, with wide eaves, flowerboxes, window shutters and balconies. The settlement is fringed with glassy lakes and views of the Tamar Valley.
The Swiss-themed Tamar Valley Resort at Grindelwald includes a range of accommodation, a shopping arcade, general store, craft and gift shops, clothing store, hairdresser, day spa, golf pro shop, chocolatier, and a cafe and bakery. Trevallyn Dam

Trevallyn Dam is within the Trevallyn Nature Recreation Area on the South Esk River, just outside of Launceston in Tasmania's north and is a great spot for picnics, trail walks and boating on the dam.
Visitors to the reserve can walk along the South Esk River gorge, see the Trevallyn Dam wall in flood and experience cable hang-gliding.
There's also an open grassy reserve that's home to resident wombats and ducks.
Enjoy short walks to lookouts or a longer walk from the gorge past the Trevallyn Power Station.
During summer, the water is ideal for swimming and the shores of Lake Trevallyn are used by the Launceston community for water skiing, kayaking and windsurfing.
Find a spot in the spacious undercover barbecue area to have lunch.
Trevallyn Dam is less than a 10-minute drive from Launceston's CBD.

Thoroughbred Night Racing Under Lights

The Tasmanian Turf Club at the Luxbet Racing Centre is home to Tasmania's most prestigious horse race the Luxbet Launceston Cup and home to Thoroughbred Night Racing under Lights. Experience the excitement of thoroughbred night racing under lights. Our complex offers an exciting, up-close personal entertainment experience like no other. The Tasmanian Turf Club is committed to maintaining a high standard of excellence and making sure you have a night to remember. We also have some day meetings.
The Luxbet Racing Centre is located approximately three kilometres from the heart of Launceston and is easily accessed by bus or taxi. Entry to the course is $7 and $4 for pensioners. Patrons dining in Silks Restaurant located in the Members Reserve do not pay a gate entry fee. We also have dining facilities in our Cafe.
