Before there was The Voice, there was "The Voice", as Dame Nellie Melba was known to describe herself. Famous from St Petersburg to San Francisco, the Melbourne-born soprano was idolised in the theatre and mobbed on the street. A celebrity who enjoyed all the trappings of superstardom _ seven kings and queens attended one of her gala performances; a dessert was created in her honour - Nellie Melba basked in the spotlight at Covent Garden, the Paris Opera, La Scala and Hobart City Hall, Launceston's Albert Hall and Zeehans Gaiety Theatre.
Stunning Australian soprano Lorina Gore performs Nellie Melba's signature arias, including "Caro nome" from Rigoletto, the "Jewel Song" from Faust, the "Waltz Song" from Romeo et Juliette, and lots more. The diva on the hundred dollar note comes to life in this sumptuous tribute concert. Nellie Melba captured the hearts of the nation. Lorina Gore as Nellie Melba will capture yours too.
