Hepburn's Woodcraft and Private Fishery


Hepburn's Woodcraft and Private Fishery is located at Nunamara in North East Tasmania.
Hepburn's Woodcraft features the work of owner Andrew Hepburn who creates timber products from Tasmanian specialty timbers. Andrew's work can be purchased from his website or on site.
You can also visit the property's private fishery to fly fish for rainbow trout. Enjoy an affordable half-day's fly fishing here; rod hire and fly-fishing tuition are available and no license is required. The fishery has a bag limit of two fish per person and bookings are essential.
Nunamara is close to the Mt Barrow State Reserve. The Reserve covers an area of 459 hectares (113 acres) which includes Mount Barrow (1413 metres), one of the tallest mountains in the north-east highlands. Here you can bushwalk through rainforest and alpine vegetation and enjoy spectacular views and scenery. The Reserve is also a popular location for rock-climbing and hang-gliding.
Nunamara is a 20-minute drive from Launceston (20 km) and a 40-minute drive from Scottsdale (48 km).

Mountain Stream Fishery


Mountain Stream Fishery is located at Targa, Tasmania on the pristine St Patricks River.
The Public fishing area offers a fun family day out. Licences are not required and you are guaranteed to catch a fish. For your convenience barbecues are available to hire and picnic areas are provided. There is no catch and release, all fish caught must be kept! Fish will be cleaned while you wait at no additional cost.
Mountain Stream Fishery is situated on the Tasman Highway between Launceston and Scottsdale. Prices per kilo of fish caught are Trout AUD10.00, and Salmon AUD13.00.

Ben Lomond National Park


Ben Lomond National Park is an alpine plateau in northern Tasmania over 1500 metres high and visible from much of Tasmania's north. The park is the main downhill skiing field in Tasmania and a magnet for adventure seekers.
Bennet's wallabies and wombats are common sights in the park and are seen regularly in the ski village during summer and winter.
Drive to the summit and experience striking mountaintop features including dolerite columns and scree slopes.
Rock climbing, alpine walking, cross-country and downhill skiing are the highlights of this national park.
Jacobs Ladder, a steep and narrow section of road on the way up the mountain, will leave a lasting memory and demands great care, especially in winter conditions when chains should be carried. A ranger station at the foot of the mountain can advise on road conditions during winter.
Ben Lomond National Park is a one-hour and 40-minute drive east of Launceston.

The Evandale market is a popular country market in historic Evandale in Tasmania's North.
Come and be a part of one of Tasmania's favourite markets with over 100 stalls, including a wide range of wares from high quality crafts to bric-a-brac for every budget. There are also plenty of food stalls and children's amusements.
Evandale is a lovely Georgian village with well preserved cottages, houses, churches, inns and shops. It is a great place for browsing in antique galleries and art and craft shops. The Launceston airport lies between Evandale and Launceston. You can also visit other historic towns nearby including Longford and Westbury. A short drive into Launceston will offer you a host of street-side cafes, boutique shops and leafy city parks. The market is open every Sunday from 0800 to 1400. Evandale is located just 15 km south of Launceston.

Evandale Village Fair and National Penny Farthing Championships


The wheels of time turn back 100 years as the historic village of Evandale plays host to The Evandale Village Fair and National Penny Farthing Championships.
The Evandale Village Fair is held annually and features a full program of Penny Farthing racing including the National Penny Farthing Championship.
Penny farthing enthusiasts converge on Evandale from throughout Australia and overseas to vie for a series of races, held on a triangular circuit in the centre of the village. Market stalls and a variety of entertainments are situated in the streets and parks surrounding the race circuit, creating the ambience of a colonial country fair.
The event includes the Penny Farthing Food Fest in Pioneer Park, a wide variety of stalls offering craft, bric-a-brac and cycling memorabilia, street entertainers, clowns, music, displays of veteran and vintage cars, traction engines and horses and carriages. plus pony rides for the children and puppet shows.

Clarendon Road Race


The Road Race is held over 30km. Starting from Evandale the race heads north to Perth before going back through Evandale to the finish at historic Clarendon Homestead. The fastest riders take just over an hour to complete the course, with many riders opting for the more leisurely social ride from Evandale directly to Clarendon.

Century Ride


The century is a Penny Farthing tradition, dating from the 1880's. 100 miles (162km) in one day. A century takes penny farthing riders most of the day to complete with the first riders finishing mid afternoon and the last racing the sun home.
Riders may also opt for a 100km ride (metric century).

Blessing of the Bonnets. A Christina Henri event


An event that remembers the lives of Australia's convict women and their children. Tasmanian artist Christina Henri's "Blessing of the Bonnets" ceremony is at St Andrews Uniting Church, at Evandale on Sunday 18 September at 9.45am.
The Blessing is a FREE event and all are welcome to attend, and enjoy morning tea afterwards at 11.15am.
Followed at 12.15pm by a formal luncheon, offering those attending the opportunity to enjoy conversations and celebration. Distinguished guests include Her Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, Professor the Honourable Kate Warner AM. Lunch is $25 per head, and pre-bookings are essential.
