Redwater Creek Railway

Redwater Creek Steam and Heritage Society operates steam train rides on the first full weekend of every month at the Sheffield Steam and Heritage Centre in Sheffield . Experience rail travel from yesteryear from the original restored Sheffield railway station. A restored Krauss steam loco pulling rebuilt heritage carriages runs every half hour from 1100 until 1600 on Saturday and Sunday. While there you can also take a look at our machinery, there is usually someone to take you through the shed and answer questions.
In 2017 we have a new attraction - our Miniature Railway will give you something else for the kids to do - and you too, you can both ride.
On the Sundays we're open, the Model Railway is open too - take the kids to watch the little trains go around the lovely layout the model club members have created.
Redwater Creek Railway's Coffee Shop has a Tasmanian Barrel wood heater keeping everyone nice and cosy in the winter. You can order a hot chocolate or freshly brewed coffee , take it on the train with you, or sit for awhile in our cafe to drink it and have a chat.

Kids vs Steamroller Tug-o-War, plenty of kid's entertainment plus lots and lots of art, craft and food stalls. And of course, our Krauss steam loco running every half hour, all day long!

International Mural Fest

Be captivated by this truly unique art competition that is held annually in Sheffield - the 'Town of Murals', in Tasmania, Australia, commencing Easter Sunday every year. Mural Fest is so successful that similar events are now happening interstate and overseas.
Each year, nine artists compete in a public 'paint off' from Easter Sunday to the following Saturday. Each artist must complete a mural, using the same poem as their mural's central theme and inspiration.
The competition is conducted in Mural Park - Sheffield's very own outdoor art gallery in the heart of Tasmania's Cradle Mountain touring region.
Mural Fest tests artistic skill, endurance and tenacity: artists are subjected to public scrutiny, time constraints and sometimes unpredictable Tasmanian weather!
The Redwater Creek Railway steam train will be running during this time. Check the website for details.
