Honey Farm - The


Discover the tastes, flavours and textures of honey at The Honey Farm in Chudleigh, Tasmania. Nestled under the Great Western Tiers mountain range, the vibrant cartoon bees adorning the building are difficult to miss.
Inside you will be taken on a journey of discovery into the amazing world of the honeybee. There are over 50 different honeys to taste, from single origin honeys, such as Tasmanian Leatherwood, to indulgent gourmet delights like the rich Honey Chocolate Paste.
After tasting the honeys, explore the secrets of the hive with audio-visual and interactive displays. A feature is the glass beehive. Watch the bees busily producing honey, try to spot the queen bee and maybe even watch a newly born bee hatching from its cell- all from behind the safety of glass.
Not only does The Honey Farm have the widest range of honey available in Tasmania, but also a unique range of honeybee related giftware, skincare products for both therapeutic and cosmetic use, and health-boosting Apitherapy products such as Propolis, Royal Jelly, Bee Pollen and Manuka Honey. Tastings and entry to The Honey Farm are free.

Trowunna Wildlife Park


Trowunna Wildlife Park is a family wildlife park at Mole Creek not far from Cradle Mountain. Trowunna was established in 1979 and covers 65 acres of serene sanctuary for Tasmania's native wildlife. Unchanged in 25 years, Trowunna Wildlife Park gives you the opportunity to experience the magic of nature's wonderland.
At Trowunna you can see more than 35 species of birds and animals, You can get up close and hand-feed the free-ranging kangaroos and wallabies. Or you can take an interactive guided tour and see Tasmanian devils being hand-fed.
Trowunna Wildlife Park is open daily 0900 to 1700. Daily interactive tours are conducted at 1100, 1300 and 1500. Learn about the successful conservation breeding programs that have been conducted at Trowunna since 1985 with native wildlife such as tasmanian devils, wombats and quolls.
Group bookings and private tours are welcome and Devil and/or Wombat full day workshops are available.

Walls of Jerusalem


This stunning alpine wilderness, dominated by dolerite peaks, tarns, lakes and alpine vegetation, is part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. The return walk to Dixon;s Kingdom is about 10 hours, and to the summit of Mt Jerusalem is about 12 hours. It is recommended to take a tent and stay overnight in this stunning landscape to make the walk easier.
The view from any of the peaks takes in thousands of alpine tarns and the neighbouring peaks such as Cradle Mountain, barn Bluff, the Pelion range, Mt Ossa, East and West Pelion, and south past cathedral Mountian and Falling Mountian, as well as the spectacular Mersey River Valley near lake Rowallan.
Bushwalkers should be experienced and well equipped for alpine conditions as the weather can be inclement at any time of year.
National Parks fees apply. National Park Passes can be purchased from Visitor Centres.

Follow a country lane along the banks of the Meander River just out of Deloraine in Northern Tasmania the A5, and with the rolling hills and stunning mountains as a backdrop and you will find our design Studio and Gallery nestled in a park style garden surrounded by beautiful, mature trees. Hugh and Mary invite you to visit the Studio. Wander through the garden and enjoy Hugh's sculptures, and view his oil paintings in the Studio; a unique creative experience when you visit Tasmania.

Wychwood Garden and Nursery


Wychwood Garden and Nursery, Mole Creek, is a stunning example of a beautiful temperate garden. It features unusual plants, particularly those that can withstand heat and frost. The garden and nursery cover around one hectare (2.5 acres) and are nestled under the Great Western Tiers, near picturesque Mole Creek, Northern Tasmania. Wychwood is a leisurely one-hour drive from Launceston and Devonport, on Highway B12 (Cradle Country Touring Route), the main road to Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, and just near Mole Creek Caves.
The garden features sweeping borders full of perennials, old roses and ornamental grasses plus a fruit and vegetable garden, a heritage apple orchard (with resident geese), water features and woodland areas.
In the creek paddock you will find a medieval-designed grass labyrinth, which is beautiful viewed from the rise above. For plant enthusiasts, a wealth of rare and interesting specimens can be found, including the renowned double white hellebore, numerous pulmonaria cultivars, hardy cyclamens, epimediums, fritillaries, snake bark maples and much more.
Wychwood was recently featured on a stamp released as part of a series celebrating Open Gardens Australia, and a stunning book 'Wychwood' was released late 2014.

Sculpture Trail - Great Western Tiers


The Great Western Tiers Sculpture Trail is a series of sculptures in and around Deloraine, Northern Tasmania. Deloraine is a 30-minute drive west of Launceston (48 km) and a 40-minute drive south-east of Devonport (51 km).
The Great Western Tiers form the northern face of Tasmania's Central Plateau, rising up to 1,420 metres above sea level. The innovative Great Western Tiers Sculpture Trail emerged in Deloraine in 2002 as a celebration of the region's natural beauty and cultural diversity. You can follow the Sculpture Trail through the streets of Deloraine and along the banks of the Meander River to sites including Marakoopa Caves, King Solomons Cave, Alum Cliffs, Devils Gullet and Mole Creek. You'll see dozens of diverse creations by gifted Tasmanian artists, each combining with the landscape to make a profound and moving statement about the essence of this beautiful region. A map of the Great Western Tiers Sculpture Trail is available at the Great Western Tiers Visitor Centre in Deloraine.
Deloraine is a key regional art and craft centre in Tasmania and each November hosts the Tasmanian Craft Fair - a four-day event which draws artisans, crafts people and visual artists from throughout Australia and internationally.

Deloraine Market


Deloraine Market offers a great selection of stalls with fresh produce including venison, farm rabbits, sour dough breads, home cooked cakes, honey, jams, farm vegetables and fruit in season.
There are plants, fruit trees, books, crafts and bric a brac. The kitchen has delicious breakfast and lunch fare and plenty for in-between.
It is a wonderful country market, a place to meet with friends and make new ones. The market is held on the first Saturday of every month (except Nov and Jan). An extra Christmas market is held on the third Saturday of December.
