An AAT Kings coach will pick you up from your hotel for your transfer to 69 Mitchell Street, the departure point of your tour. At 6.30am join your coach to commence a full day Kakadu and Mary River Adventure tour. Depart Darwin and head south along the Stuart Highway, then due east onto the Arnhem Highway and travel through the Adelaide River floodplain. Stop at an outback Roadhouse for morning tea (own expense). Travel into the World Heritage listed Kakadu National park and pass through a variety of eco-systems such as Monsoonal Rainforest, Sandstone Country and the world's most protected river system, the South Alligator River. In the cool of the mid-morning arrive at Ubirr art site - the walk is an easy to moderate loop walk which takes you into numerous galleries of rock art and shelters that were used as recently as 40 years ago by the traditional people of Kakadu. The hundreds of paintings and views across the floodplains and sandstone country into Arnhem Land are breathtaking. After lunch which is included today, arrive at the architectural awarded tropical design park headquarters Bowali. There is free time to explore the numerous park oriented interactive displays, research library, theatres, art gallery, gift shop and staffed information desks. Then join a cruise located on a wetland system that houses the world's highest concentration of crocodiles. The cruise is one direction from east to west through the Mary River Wetlands. The abundance of food which sustains the large crocodile population also feeds a myriad of bird species, wallabies and water buffalo. Finish your cruise parked amongst a stand of sacred lotus lilies with a glass of sparkling wine and a fresh tropical fruit platter to compliment the majestic surrounds of these internationally significant wetlands. Tour concludes at approximately 7.00pm, at which time hotel drop offs will commence.
