Valid for 01APR16-31MAR19:
Board your Bonnet Island Experience vessel at Main Esplanade, Strahan to commence a 2.5 hour Bonnet Island Experience tour. Depart half an hour before sunset on a small vessel and cruise to Hell's Gate to see the sunset. Then cruise to Bonnet Island, a tiny island located at the entrance to Macquarie Harbour in Strahan on Tasmania's West Coast. The island is home to a thriving colony of Little Penguins. Upon arrival head to the lighthouse to hear about the lighthouse keepers and their families. A light supper is included, then experience a unique opportunity to observe the phenomenon of the Little Penguins in their natural habitat as they come in from their day of fishing. Centuries of pounding seas have carved out sheltered outcrops on the island, and this remote and lonely place makes a perfect refuge for the Little Penguins. Specially designed burrows have been added to the islands natural features, with in-built cameras allowing a look at life on the inside for the little birds. Cruise concludes between 7.00pm - 10.45pm depending on the season, at Main Esplanade.
