Snowy River National Park

The Snowy River is renowned for canoeing and rafting, and the Snowy River National Park is ideal for those who appreciate magnificent forests, rugged gorges and wild landscapes.

McKillops Bridge is one of the few places with conventional vehicle access to the Snowy River. The Deddick River meets the Snowy just upstream of the bridge and wide sandy beaches with shallow rock pools between the rapids make this a great swimming spot.

Bete Bolong: Events

Love East Gippsland Community Tapestry

Love East Gippsland Tapestry events are happening all over East Gippsland in August.

It is free to participate - come and weave some East Gippsland magic. No prior knowledge of tapestry weaving is required, the artist will teach basic weaving methods on the spot. Book in with your local venue for an extended session or just drop in. Call East Gippsland Art Gallery or email if you have questions.

Renowned tapestry weaver Jennifer Sharpe will travel to East Gippsland in August and over twelve workshop days create a tapestry with members from the community based on a gridded map of East Gippsland.

Jennifer has been weaving for over 30 years including six years working at the Australian Tapestry Workshop. Tapestry weaving is a weft faced weave which is woven on upright looms, an ancient method but very meditative. Jennifer will teach the basic techniques and participants can be a part of the project while learning a new skill. The finished Love East Gippsland Community Tapestry will remain in East Gippsland and over time will be on display at various venues throughout East Gippsland.
