The people of Katandra West in the fruit bowl of the Goulburn Valley are justifiably proud that celebrated artist Ellis Rowan was working and living in the town when she painted Chrysanthemums and Marguerites which won first and second prizes in the 1888 Centennial Exhibition in Melbourne. Trouble is, you have to spend an hour or so driving to the regional capital to study Rowan's works in the Shepparton Art Gallery's collection. The collection also includes paintings by Arthur Boyd, Frederick McCubbin, Arthur Streeton, Rupert Bunny and Margaret Preston. The cemeteries at Katandra and neighbouring Tungamah are sprinkled with the graves of district pioneers, while the heritage buildings on Tungamah's main street are classified by the National Trust. The town, which takes its name from a station on the vast Tallyaroopna run which was divided into two properties in 1848, is at the centre of an orchard and dairy district developed as a soldier settlement for Diggers who served in World War II.

Greater Shepparton MooovingArt

Moooving Art is a unique and ever-changing public art revolution. Scattered across Greater Shepparton's parks, gardens, riverbanks and public spaces is an array of colourful, ever-changing fibreglass cows that make up the Moooving Art herd.

This exhibition of life-sized 3D fibreglass cows brings a whole new meaning to street art!
Greater Shepparton produces a large percentage of Australia's dairy exports, making the bovine a natural choice for this unusual exhibition. There are over 90 cows in the MooovingArt herd and they are displayed outside businesses, in gardens, on poles and in buildings including the Eastbank Centre, the Shepparton Visitor Information Centre and the Council foyer.

Local artists transform these sculptures to make each piece unique, or funny, or challenging. Try to spot new additions to the herd. Collect 'sightings' of each sculpture as they are regularly moved to different locations around the city.

The Rotary Club of Numurkah proudly presents Sam Bailey.

Sam Bailey is a farmer, pilot, husband and best selling author. He has achieved all of this from a wheelchair and has an incredible ability to take an audience on the journey of his life.

From a childhood growing up in the Australian bush, to a car accident that turned his life upside down and its aftermath, Sam tells his story in his own down to earth laconic style that captures the great Australian spirit of having a go.

He relates how he beat the odds to fulfil his lifelong dream to be a farmer, learning to ride a four wheel bike, devising a hoist to get into farm machinery and ultimately learning to fly an ultralight.

Sam's goal is to become the first quadriplegic in the world to fly a helicopter and flying into schools to inspire children to fulfil their own dreams and goals. This project is called Helifirst.
