In the shadows of the legendary Mount Arapiles is Natimuk, a postcard-perfect nineteenth century heritage town in Victoria's Grampians region.

Natimuk has become a base for adventurers heading to the world famous Mount Arapiles rock climbing and abseiling crag, but it is also worth lingering a while in the village to explore the restored heritage buildings housing antiques and craft shops. Soak up the creative vibes of the relatively high number of resident artists, celebrated at the biennale Nati Frinj festival.

Natimuk's Heritage Trail gives a detailed view of the town's impressive list of amazingly preserved nineteenth century architecture and historic sites and gives you a taste of 1850s pastoral life.

Experienced rock climbing instructors provide a range of courses for an expedition to Mount Arapiles. Specialist gear is available in town, and cabin accommodation is available as well as campsites at the base of the rock, where adventurers from around the world swap tall tales of climbs past.

Natimuk is 324 kilometres from Melbourne, or about three-and-a-half hours by car along the Western Highway.
