Daylesford Spa Country Railway


Come and ride a train straight out of the good old days at Daylesford Spa Country Railway, when life was simpler and train services were an essential part of rural life.

The restored heritage trains "take you for a ride" through the beautiful scenic countryside and forest of the Central Highlands, to the highest operating railway station in Victoria.

Popular with families, friends and railway buffs, the train rides start from the 1882 heritage listed railway station in Daylesford.

The return journey along the top of the range traverses open farmland and thick forest, passing the sites of ancient volcanoes and little communities established in the gold rush era.

Chocolate Mill


Located seven kilometres north of Daylesford, Chocolate Mill is in a straw-bale building, designed and built by the original owners. Nicki and Adrian Straton who took over the business in January 2014 and are excited to expand further and develop the iconic Chocolate Mill. No changes to the fantastic chocolate, only enhancements.

The Chocolate Mill manufactures over 12,000 hand crafted chocolates per week using fair-trade Belgian Couverture chocolate, no palm oil and no artificial ingredients. Chocolates are made using traditional European techniques and can be seen through a viewing window in the kitchen.

Also on site is the Hot Chocolate Cafe where award-winning hot chocolates, espresso coffees, cakes, tarts made from our chocolate and ice-cream sundaes can be purchased as well as enjoying your freshly made chocolates. Light refreshments are available on weekends, school and public holidays.

Open daily 10am to 4.45pm as the cafe closes 4.30pm. Closed February, Christmas Day and Boxing Day each year.

Gardens of Glenlyon - Spring


Gardens of Glenlyon gives people the opportunity to see a beautiful part of the world and explore a range of gardens, from formal home gardens to rambling bush estates.

Visitors will see how gardeners of this area have addressed the diversity of soil types, micro climates and site locations. Gardens of Glenlyon will have been held over four seasons - Summer was held in December 2012, Autumn in April 2014, Winter 29-30 August 2015 and the final Gardens of Glenlyon will be on 15 and 16 October 2016 when Spring is celebrated.

There will be horticultural products and produce on sale in the Glenlyon Hall, fabulous eating at the Glenlyon Store and Glenlyon Estate and an enlightening and entertaining dinner with guest speaker Richard Cornish on Saturday night 15 October.

Forbidden Dance EP Launch at Daylesford Cider


Vanessa Craven and Lunar Dust will be back at Daylesford Cider in October, with their beautiful vocals and amazing instrumental set. The Forbidden Dance EP is best descrived as sliding away with the blues on Chaturangui (Hindustani slide guitar) and forging ahead with folkeyness. Vanessa Craven along with her band, will get you listening to tracks you are familiar with and yet not so familiar with.

Grand Final Day Spit Roast at Daylesford Cider Company


Daylesford Cider are excited to announce the beginning of a new era - Spit Roasts at the cidery. Join them on the Grand Final public holiday for a relaxed afternoon of delicious food, award-winning cider, funky tunes and great company.

Saturday Cider Session with Folk Americana Duo Cielle Montgomery and James Church


Daylesford Cider are proud to announce they are one of few venues in Victoria lucky enough to be hosting the well acclaimed duo, Cielle Montgomery and James Church.

Hailing from Cooma, NSW, Cielle Montgomery and James Church are a folk/Americana inspired duo fast becoming known for their captivating stage presence and ability to move audiences with their powerful harmonies, skillful acoustic instrumentation on dobro and acoustic guitar, well-crafted original songs and undeniable chemistry.

Influenced by greats such as Gillian Welch, Dave Rawlings, Norah Jones and Patty Griffin, this is a musical pairing not to be missed.

Audiences will be treated to an intimate listening experience consisting of tracks from Cielle's debut album 'Walking Free', as well as, songs by a range of artists that inspire James and Cielle as songwriters, including Townes Van Zandt, Tom Waits, John Prine, Holly Williams, Marcus Mumford and Alison Krauss.

To avoid disappointment, it is strongly recommended to reserve a table for lunch.

Silver Streak - Food and Wine Train


Taking off from Daylesford Train Station, join the Silver Streak - Food and Wine Train for a magical journey to the secluded hamlet of Bullarto.

The Silver Streak service commences with drinks and nibbles at the Daylesford station from 5:00pm and boarding at 5:30pm.

On the 30 minute trip to Bullarto the catering staff will serve you refreshments and delicious finger food. At Bullarto you have the opportunity to view the progress of the reconstructed old buildings while enjoying further refreshments.

The duo Travelling Concessions will provide delightful music of the era while you relax on the train, returning to Daylesford by 7:00pm.

Enjoy refreshments at the Daylesford Station from 5:15pm. Boarding at 5.30pm with the evening concluding at about 7:00pm.

The event runs on the first Saturday of each month.
