Moorabbin

Colonial food bowl for old Melbourne town, the suburb of Moorabbin to the city's south has long since developed renown as the protector of the regional, Kingston Arts Centre. Since 1968 it has also been the guardian of one of Victoria's treasures, a Wurlitzer organ. Custom-made at a cost of 25,000 pounds ($50,000) by the Rudolf Wurlitzer Company of New York for the State Theatre, the organ arrived in Melbourne in 1928. In 1968 the Theatre Organ Society oversaw its move and installation in the Moorabbin Town Hall. Separated from the Port Phillip Bay shoreline by the neighbouring suburb of Sandringham, Moorabbin straddles both the Nepean Highway and the southern rail line. Moorabbin is part of the City of Kingston, a municipality which boasts world class golf courses such as Kingston Heath and Woodlands, a chain of Port Phillip Bay beaches and attendant parks, cafes and restaurants and a network of bike trails which snakes through roads, reserves and along the waterfront. The regular marine action includes bay cruises, sailing, wind-surfing, jet ski-ing, safe swimming and fishing.

Kingston Heath Golf Club

Kingston Heath is one of the Golf Clubs of the world famous Melbourne Sandbelt and has hosted numerous national championships including nine Australian Opens, 2 Australian Masters and is the host of the 2016 World Cup of Golf.

The course is currently ranked number 18 in the world and number 11 outside of the United States and is regarded by many, including some of the world's best golfers, as one of Australia's finest golf courses.

Kingston Heath is one of the smallest courses of world renown. The difficulty of the course is centred around its bunkering, which is visually stunning. It is full of all the strategic interest golfers expect of a fine course.

A long course at over 6800 yards when it opened, it is now on the short side of what is regarded as 'championship' length but its genius is that it can still defend itself against the finest players. More importantly, it is a course to constantly stimulate and challenge those who play it with regularity.
