Samaria Farm

Samaria Farm is located 24 kilometres from Benalla in the rolling hills, near Mt Samaria north-eastern Victoria. The farm is spread over 22 acres with orchards of damask roses, olives, lemons and lemon myrtle.

Come and see the beautiful orchard of 3000 Damask Roses, it is just stunning to see in full bloom. A favourite of the ancients, these roses have been known in cultivation since before Christ. The flowers are renowned for their fine fragrance and originate from the middle east. The centre petals are a rich mauve pink while the outer petals graduate back to a milky white. The whole effect is stunning.

All products are 100 per cent natural, grown and farmed with love as well as hand picked and packaged on the farm. Samaria Farm is a family run and owned business that has been operating for the past three years.

Swanpool Cinema

Kevin Smith retired from the SEC in 1989 to start Swanpool Cinema in October 1991. He met Shirley Swallow, his wife to be, at a film festival in Rosebud and together they ran the cinema as a private business for 20 years, retiring at the end of 2011 on New Year's Eve.

Since that time the Cinema has been a community cinema, completely run with volunteer labour. A team of volunteers run the candy bar, the ticket box, projection and all the admin functions.

So for over 24 years now Swanpool Cinema has been screening the best of art house and quality movies, usually as a double feature on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Matinees, bus groups, fundraisers and private functions are also promoted. The Cinema can shape an audio-visual event to your requirements.

In 2013 the visual and sound systems were upgraded to D Cinema digital to provide an excellent film experience. A new motorised screen was also installed. The old projectors were retained though, so the old classics can still be run.

Exit the King

LUEY Inc presents 'Exit the King' by Eugene Ionesco in 1962. It is an absurdist comedy about the decline and death of King Berenger and the descent of his court and Kingdom, and indeed the world, into chaos.

The heaters aren't working, the sun won't rise, the throne room is filthy and there's a huge crack opening up in the wall. Queen Margueritte is preparing for the inevitable but Queen Marie refuses to accept that the time has come. The signs that the King is dying are unmistakable, the kingdom is collapsing but Berenger refuses to acknowledge this.

With a cast made up of locals, and in conjunction with the Benalla Wall-to-Wall Festival, this is one play that everyone should try to see.
